Gordon Slovarp

Gordon Slovarp died on January 7, 2015 at his residence in Billings, Montana. Gordon was born on July 12, 1921 in Eastend Saskatchewan to Severt and Catherine Slovarp. Gordy was their youngest child. He had an older brother Tom, and sister Elsie. Gordy and his family moved to Billings when he was seven years old. He graduated from Billings Senior High in 1939. After graduation he went to work for Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, Washington. Gordy would join the Air Force during World War II, and was honorably discharged in March of 1946. After the war Gordy went to work with his father and brother as a general contractor and he stayed in this profession until the time he retired. Gordy was a loving and caring person who was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. He enjoyed the outdoors especially spending time in his rose garden and golfing. Gordy was able to attend one of the Honor Flights and go to Washington D.C. to see the WWII Memorial. He also enjoyed taking care of his dogs Stormy and Willie. Gordy was a warm and gentle person and will be greatly missed. Gordy is survived by daughters Paulette (Milo) Mateer, Karen (Gil) Day, Janie Spencer, Julie Britton, Kristi Slovarp, Linda Rockower; stepchildren RaeAnn Ferguson, Kellie Bush, Michael Ferguson, Keri Clearwater, Kevin Ferguson, Karla Ferguson and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with nieces and nephews. Gordy was preceded in death by his parents Severt and Catherine, brother Tom, sister Elsie, and daughter Kathy Greenblatt. A memorial service will be on Tuesday, January 13 at St. Bernard Catholic Church at 1:00 p.m. Donations can be made to an animal shelter of your choice, the Wounded Warriors Project, or St. Bernard Catholic Church.
