Obituary

Aaron Kenneth Sorenson was born in Brookings, SD on August 21, 1951. The oldest of three children to Eyvonne (Soden) and Charles Sorenson, he passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 4, 2019. He graduated from Central High School in Rapid City, SD in 1969. Aaron retired from Landstroms and Riddles Jewelry manufacturing and spent his time fishing, and bow hunting throughout the Black Hills. His love of fishing, bow hunting and hiking kept Aaron in the Black Hills of South Dakota for most of his life. His final resting place will be in the Black Hills which he loved so much (this will be announced at a later date). Aaron loved to take pictures of family, friends, fish, and scenery. He was always quiet at family events, but loved nothing more than being with all of us. Aaron could be found at the table playing cribbage or at the bowling alley with his group of friends. Aaron is survived by his two sisters, Cheri (Bruce) Norton and Shellie Matson; nephews, Dustin Matson, Jessie Matson, Ryan Hopson, Darell Hopson, Chad Norton, Kelly Norton, and all of his dearest friends. Aaron's life will be remembered and celebrated Wednesday, December 11th at 11:00am at Dahl Funeral Chapel in Billings, MT, with reception to follow.

I first met Aaron fall of 1986, he and I were both employed at Landstrom’s Black Hills Gold. Aaron held/guarded the door for the evening shift to enter the building. We exchanged a few “howdy’s” over the weeks and months I first worked there, one day we nearly ran into each other’s boats at Sheridan Lake. (Literally). I said “hey your the guy that holds the door at work”. “Yep” was all he said. Next time I saw him at work he wanted to know if I wanted to go fishing. Over 30 years we fished, bow hunted, drank beer, camped, sometimes argued about who was right about how to fish, etc. . He never failed to be a friend. Never. He is sorely missed. -Paul Vice, Smyrna, TN
