What a great guy. In my experience, Bob was always a positive, creative force in the world. He was unassuming, multi talented and welcoming to all- a selfless giver. It’s been great knowing you Bob!

It is with deepest regret on the passing of Bob. I remember him helping me when I was a post-doc at UW-Madison and then hired as a faculty member here as well. He gave me great advice and was always full of cheer. When I worked with him in the mid80's at the USDA station, he showed me the area and both he and his wife welcomed me wonderfully to their house. He will be deeply missed. John Parrish, Professor

I first met Bob and Nancy in 1972 as I was beginning graduate school at the University of Wisconsin. Some 19 years later our young family was on a 5-week trip across much of the country and we stopped in Miles City, MT. Bob and Nancy insisted that we stay with them on Friday, July 26th, 1991, the occasion of our 16th wedding anniversary. Because Connie had been working with special needs children, she and Nancy had a lot in common as did Bob and me with our degrees in reproductive physiology. We went swimming with them that evening, and the next day Bob took us out on the range to explore a "buffalo trap" and look for bones. Our son Andy was thrilled but daughter Wendy not so much. It was a very memorable and pleasant impromptu visit and we appreciated their gracious hospitality. Some years later, Bob was in Raleigh, NC for a conference and we had lunch together. Bob will be missed by anyone whose path he crossed. I hope that Nancy and other family members will find comfort in many treasured memories of Bob - a very special person in our minds.

I loved this man from the very first time I met him. He will be remember fondly by his friends in KY for his knowledge, humanity, humor, congeniality, respect for all living things, and being the best friend a person could ask for. You will be missed dearly my friend. Love and condolences to Nancy, family and friends.
