Gary Stinchfield

Gary Robert Stinchfield, 58, of Billings passed away unexpectedly at his home Monday morning August 3, 2015 of natural causes. Six short weeks ago he danced at his beloved daughter Amanda's wedding. Most of us didn't realize it would be the last time we would see him. We are so grateful now for this special, happy memory. Gary was born to Robert (Tag) and Marcelline (Steier) Stinchfield in Bowman, ND. He moved to Billings with his family in 1963. He later graduated from Billings West High in 1975. He joined Laborers Local 98 immediately afterward. He worked as a laborer for over 30 years on many great projects. He was a job site foreman for Meredith Drilling on the big build in Colstrip. He married Jolene Lorenz in 1985 with whom he had two children. He was retired at the time of his death. Gary was known as boisterous, funny guy, quick with a witty remark, and not shy with his point of view. He could often be seen driving around town with “his” Saint Bernard Zula (whom he appropriated from Amanda) hanging out both his car windows. Gary was preceded in death by his wife, his baby son, Travis Jo, his maternal and paternal grandparents and all of his in-laws but one. He is survived by his precious daughter, Amanda Stinchfield-Driskell and his new son-in-law, Mike; his faithful parents, Robert and Marcelline Stinchfield; sisters, Doris (Tim) Stricker, Lorrie (Mark) Stinchfield-Faas, Sheryl Stinchfield and Janel (Troy) Wangsness; brother, Tom (Sharon )Stinchfield; brother-in-law, Tom (Marilyn) Lorenz; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. A vigil will be held Thursday August 6th, 7:00 p.m. at Dahl Funeral Chapel with a celebration of Gary's life on Friday, August 7th, 11:00 a.m. at St. Pius Catholic. Arrangements are in the care of the staff at Dahl Funeral Chapel.
