James Swain

James L Swain, 79 passed away at Riverstone Hospice in Billings, MT on November 2, 2012. He was born in Billings on July 12, 1933 to Lawrence B. and Elizabeth (Vickery) Swain. Attending local Frat Schools he graduated from Billings Central Catholic School. He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He worked for the US Postal Service, retiring after 30 years. During his retirement he spent his time doing what he loved most which was enjoying the outdoors and visiting and making friends. He worked as camp cook in various hunting camps and campground host in campgrounds and National Parks throughout the U.S. but primarily in Yellowstone National Park. In 2005 he retired permanently taking up residence in Greybull, WY. He is survived by his children: Tim (Char) Swain of Eaton, CO and their children and grandchildren, Clint (Mary) Swain of Eaton, CO, Chris (Terin) Swain and sons Maddox and Paxton of Greeley, CO, Ryan Swain of Eaton, CO; Brian (Marianne) Swain and their children all of Billings, Josh Swain, Casey Swain and Hayley Swain; Larry (Erika) Swain of Bemidji MN; Bill Swain of Waukesha, WI; and Mary Ann (Dan) Richards and her daughters Madison and Cassie Langton of Billings. Jim is also survived by siblings: Catherine Holt of Snohomish, WA, John (Ceil) of Marysville, WA, Shirley (Jack) Hughes of Escondido, CA, Rosalie (Hank) Reimers of Great Falls, MT, Aileen (Fred) Silbernagel of Billings, numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Mary and Charlotte, three brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law. Service: Visitation will be held at Dahl Chapel 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday November 9 with a vigil service to follow. The Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Co-Cathedral with the Rite of Committal to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
