Claris M. (Lose) Ungefug died on December 10, 2014, in Billings, MT. She was born on May 3, 1922 to Paul and Nellie Lose on the family homestead in Belfry, Montana, the third of eight children. Claris grew up, was schooled and graduated from high school and lived in Belfry for 84 more years before moving to Billings, MT. Claris married Herman Ungefug and started the hard work of farm life; raising large gardens, canning and freezing meat, fruits and vegetables. Many people benefited from her home cooked meals and her famous pies. Claris is survived by Herman and their four daughters, Marie (Greg), Valerie (Jack), Rosalie (Sheldon) and Karla (Gary); 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; one sister and her only cousin; plus many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, six siblings, son-in-law, Jerry Behnke; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 15 at Saint John's Lutheran Church in Belfry, MT. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Saint John's Lutheran Church at PO Box 201 in Belfry or to the Belfry Senior Citizens Center at PO Box 15.

Sending warm, healing thoughts to you all today. Claris was my adopted grandma and I have such nice memories of time spent with her. I have several of her recipes in my casserole rotation and the most wonderful pecan pie recipe in the world. I know she is in a much better place now and I am comforted knowing she is with her savior. I will always remember her laugh and quick wit. Claris was like another mother to me. Claris and my mom (Ruth Reichert) were the best of friends and pinochle buddies since before I was born. We always stopped in Belfry to say "hi" on our way to and from the farm in Wyoming. Claris and Herman (I always thought we were related and called them Aunt Claris and Uncle Herman) were always so welcoming to me and my family. I will miss her dearly and I think Claris and my Mom are in heaven together. No pain now and they are smiling and laughing together. I am so happy that Karla lives here in Libby and we can get together and carry on the tradition that Claris and my Mom lived. Love, Patti Reichert-Dalby
