Bethene Vermandel

Bethene Vermandel, 83, of Billings, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013. She was born June 23, 1929, in Billings, MT, the daughter of Lee and Dahlia Halverson. She moved with her family when she was five years old to the head of Sioux Jane Coulee where it became the Halverson family ranch. Being the eldest of their children, she was her dad's helper. She rode horseback four miles to attend Coburn School where she met her future husband, Eldon Vermandel. They were married on October 7,1949. They moved to the Vermandel Ranch in 1952. Mom loved ranch life. She tended everything with love; her husband, kids, grandkids, great-grand kids, her garden, horses, and cows. Mom was famous for her cooking. They never had a problem gathering a branding crew because of her good food. Bethene was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and grandson, Jacob Brown. Bethene is survived by children, Keith, Kathy and Peggy; grandchildren, Christina, Lee, Aimee, Colton, and Zach; and great-grandchildren, Alden, Celia, and Paisley. Our family wishes to express our gratitude to IHS for their support throughout our mother's illness. A special thanks to Glenis, Cindy and the staff at Diamond Willow. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 28, at Dahl Chapel. Interment will follow at the Vermandel Ranch on Pryor Road.
