Eldon Vermandel

Eldon Vermandel, 82, of Billings, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2012. Eldon was born December 6, 1929, in Forsyth, MT to Lee & Hazel Vermandel. He moved to Pryor Creek in 1935 and continued to live there. He attended Coburn school and met Bethene Halverson, whom he fought with as a child, and later became the love his life. They were married on October 7, 1949. Eldon and Bethene continued to work at Pierce Packing until the spring of 1952, when he and his newly started family began to help run his father's ranch, the second love of his life. He continued to ranch there for the remainder of his life. During this time, he raised his family while running cattle and cultivating the land. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Betty, Clarence, and David; and his grandson, Jacob Brown. Eldon is survived by his wife, Bethene; children, Keith, Kathy and Peggy; grandchildren, Christina, Lee, Aimee, Colton and Zach; and great-grandchildren, Alden, Celia and Paisley. Our family wishes to express our gratitude to RiverStone Hospice for their wonderful support during the last days of our father's life. Service: Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 29, at Dahl Chapel. Interment will follow at the Vermandel Ranch on Pryor Road.
