Helen Wiseman

Helen (Burns) Wiseman, 74, passed away on December 24, 2014, while in Denver, Colorado, for the recent birth and care of her great grandson. She was born August 23, 1940 in Crow Agency to Jiggs and Jeanette (Burns) Yellowtail. She attended school at Saint Xavier Mission, Sacred Heart Academy in Missoula, MT and graduating from Hardin High School and then Los Angeles Junior College in California. She was married to Earl Kelly, then divorced, and then married Robert (Bob) Wiseman and later divorced. Helen was a member of the Crow Tribe. She worked for Indian Health Services and then the Bureau of Indian Affairs Social Services until her retirement in 2000. She also worked for the Big Horn County Child and Family Services as an (IEWC) expert court witness. Helen held a strong Catholic faith as she was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Hardin throughout her life. She helped Father Fabian with the church‘s financial business, with altar linen care and with anything else that needed to be done. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Daughters of America, and held many official local and state positions, attending numerous state and out-of-state conventions. She volunteered at the Big Horn County Museum, at the Helping Hands Food Bank, for the annual Hardin High School Speech and Drama Debates and was a Big Horn County Election Judge. She was instrumental in the formation of the new Bighorn Valley Health Center and served on it's Board of Directors until her passing. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, working in her vegetable and flower gardens, upholstering, refinishing old furniture, reading, playing the piano, shopping (even at Lowes and Home Depot) baking for all family occasions (her daughter‘s wedding cake), hilarious card games with friends and family until all hours of the night and traveling. She very much enjoyed her monthly luncheons with her dear friends, classmates and with her church group. She leaves behind her daughter, Kristi (Tracy) Robertson, granddaughters Callie Robertson and Kenzie Robertson and grandson Tanner Robertson. Great granddaughter Marley (Kenzie) and great grandson Carter (Callie). Sisters Roberta Rose and Loretta Burns. Nieces Robyn Spaulding (Dick Lawrence) and children Jennifer Spaulding (Taylor) and Jamie Spaulding (Margo), Kelly (John) Furgason, Allison (Robert) Pederson and children Brooke, Marissa, Sara and Adrienne Pederson. Nieces Ellen (Alan) Kautzman and children Ashley and Andre Kautzman, Colleen (Kelly) Crowe and children Nick, Zach and Rachel Crowe. Nephew Greg (Lisa) Vandersloot. Her uncles Bob Dyckman and John Burns Jr., cousins Nicky McMurry and family, Robyn, Pat and Mike Dyckman and families and her special cousins Oot Amyote, Kenneth Toinnette, Merle Harris, Anita Morrison and their families, her dear friend Agnes Pretty Weasel who she worked with for many years and her special neighbors Kevin and Holly Cannon and their children Kolin and Hailey. And, of course, her beloved dog, Bodee Rose. She was preceded in death by her mother Jeanette Burns, father Jiggs Yellowtail, sister Joan Burns, husband Bob Wiseman, aunts Helen Dyckman and Mary (Lawson) Lee, cousins Harlan Dyckman, Jim Lee, Ysidro Yabarra, Sis Bulltail, grandparent John (Christina) Burns, step grandmother Minnie Burns, and grandfather Robert (Maggie) Yellowtail, Sr. Rosary Services will be 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 13 with Memorial Services 11 a.m. Wednesday, both at St. Joseph Catholic Church with a luncheon to follow.
