Dean Wulff

Dean Lamonte Wulff was born January 18, 1932 in Leonard, North Dakota. He died April 4, 2013 after complications from a recent heart attack. Dean had fought long and hard for years after suffering from a debilitating stroke in 1997. He was a very determined and tough old bugger. Dean grew up on the family farm in Leonard, North Dakota where he had to fix the equipment and vehicles. He began driving truck in 1953 and later hauled cars for Convoy Trucking. This is what brought him to Montana. He met and married Rayona Tate in 1957. They had four children: Bill, Tom, Karen (Guy) Lekse and Sandra. He has two granddaughters Josie and Cindy Lekse. Dean met Louie Schoenbeck in the mid 1950's while driving truck. In the late 1950's they first opened Louie & Dean's Montana Truck and Car Salvage in the Billings heights. In the early 1960's it was moved to it's present location in Lockwood. Louie passed away in 1977 and Dean ran it by himself until his stroke in 1997. Dean's eldest son, Bill, took over and has been running it since. He loved to be around people and his work allowed him to be around many different types of people from every walk of life. Especially later in life, he lived for the days he could go down to his shop. He wasn't able to do a lot, but was always out in the yard picking up cans, batteries, junk and driving around on his scooter. He was a life time member of the Billings Trap Club and for many years enjoyed river boating and jet boating. He was the second child born to William and Ella Wulff. Dean's father died when Dean was a toddler and Ella married Nick Brown to which Dean had seven other brothers and sisters. Dean is survived by his elder brother Hank (Janice-deceased) Wulff, Jim (Laverne) Brown, Jerry-deceased Brown, the Quad's: Cleo (Penny) Brown, Clayton Brown, Clair-deceased (Linda) Brown and Connie (Arnie-deceased) Nennig, Pati (Walt) Pogorzilski. Dean spent the last four years of his life at Eagle Cliff Manor. We would like to thank his CNA's, nurse's that cared for him there and all of his friends that would visit him in the hospital and Eagle Cliff. He would have been miserable without all of you. We would also like to thank Rocky Mountain Hospice. Their compassion and assistance was deeply appreciated by Dean and his family. Dean was not a perfect dad, husband or friend, but he was ours and we miss him very much. We know he is now free of his worn out and crippled shell. Service: Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday with Funeral Services 11:00a.m. Saturday, April 13, at Dahl Funeral Chapel.
