David Young

My husband, David T. Young, left us to go meet his maker on August 30, 2016 at the age of 64. David was born on February 19, 1952 to Harry Randall and Thelma Caroline (Brunk) Young in Bakersfield, CA. He started his early life to earn money by picking fruit in the fields. Which he would say, "This taught me the hard knocks of life, what it takes to earn a buck." From there he took on many jobs until he found his true calling. He worked as a crane operator and belonged to the Operating Engineers Local Union #3 for 36 years. During this he worked for several companies which gave him numerous opportunities to travel throughout the US doing crane work. David loved to ride motorcycles, which he called his scooters. He had a special scooter which he put together and built when he was a young man. This gave him the freedom to fly with the wind and bugs in his teeth as he would tell you with a big sigh. When David was in his early manhood he became friends with a very special man. Frank, a cowboy/gunsmith and all around great guy, Dave would say. Meeting Frank brought David to a world full of passion in learning ballistics and gun making. He loved to share his knowledge with anyone who wanted to learn. He would always try to be the best he could in whatever he would do. When he got into clay shooting, he would practice all the time and when he felt ready, he went to nationals and ended up 47th position in his class, which is a feat of great accomplishment. He was an avid hunter and fisherman throughout his life. In 1997, he decided to move to Montana to have new adventures in the outdoors. This is also where he met his wife Maxie. They hunted and fished and would explore the outdoors together. They shared many memories of the wildlife and outdoors of God's world. David would say, "This is what life is about, what God has given us." As David and Maxie began their life together, their dreams of having a small farm started to grow. A dream that David lived for became a big part of his life in years to come. The pleasure that brought him happiness and love bringing baby calves and lambs in to this world, the care and worries that he felt and had. This was David, a man that would be there for people who needed help no matter when and where, he would be there for you with no strings attached as he would say. David loved and cherished his family; he will be missed dearly and remembered by many. He is survived by his wife, Maxie; daughter, Sheryl; siblings, Carole Naucke of San Jose, CA and Leslie (Carl) Taylor of Elk Grove, CA; mother in-law, Lucille Ayers of Glendive, MT; sisters and brother in-law, Nancy (Don) Jarvis of Glendive and Alice Hartman of Clyde Park, MT; 21 nieces and nephews as well as 28 great nieces and nephews, 5 great-great nieces and nephew, and many cousins, extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Thelma Young; sister, Judy Griffith; brother in-laws, Ted Naucke, John Hartman and Benny Griffith. Cremation has taken place, memorial services will be held September 7th at 2:00 at the 7th Day Adventist Church 109 Clay St.
