Chester Bird Hat

Chester Bird Hat (AKCHIASHILEE) Owns Sorrel Horse, 80, of Pryor passed away Monday, January 6, at Billings Clinic. He was a descendant of Chief Bellrock, a member of Ties the Bundle Clan and Ties the Bundle child. He was born on September 4, 1939 to Sampson Bird Hat and Ceceila Other Black Bird-Bird Hat. He was a member of the Native American Church and Catholic Church. Chester and Ethel Bird Hat were united in 1972, they exchanged vows November 19, 2011 they spent more than 45 years together. Following his education he worked for area ranches and farms. He was a FireFighter throughout his 30's before working for Pryor Headstart as a Bus Driver and Custodian. Chester later returned to ranching, which was his passion. Chester was a horseman and enjoyed working with them. Whether it was breaking, training, or riding horses he was driven by his love for them and showed it. He was an excellent Team Roper and Bareback Rider who participated in the rodeo way of life. Chester loved to travel with his family to Arizona to join Native American Church meetings. He was also a great supporter of his children and grandchildren who participated in sports events, rodeos, and curricular activities. Chester was preceded in death by his parents and beloved wife Ethel Bird Hat; Brothers: Steven, Edward, and Dallas Bird Hat. Sisters: Gladys DeCrane, Fern Little Light, Irene, Nancy, Tillie, Florence, Zora Bird Hat, Theresa Bird Hat-Haun. Daughter: Aretha Bird Hat and Grandsons: Stephen Little Light, Micheal DeCrane, Mike Plainbull. He is survived by his children William Joe (Geralyn) Gutierrez, Lana (Brian) Old Crow, Melvin, Pamela Bird Hat. Brothers: Gerry Allen and Gary Plainbull. Sister: Rosalie Turnsback. Children He raised as his own: Aritha (Cody) Hogan, Maritha (RJohn) Nomee, Jordell (Mariah) Black Wolf, Georgette (Anda Birdin Ground) Bird Hat, Anessa Gutierrez, Carl Monroy, Sampson Decrane, Blaine Fortner; 39 Grandkids, several great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Adopted Family: Peshlakia and Morris of Indian Wells, AZ. Close Family Members: Melvin Stops, Violet Enick, Kathryn Old Crow, Pamela Little Light, Warlene Comes Up, Irma Bird Hat, Ruby, Danny, Roland Plain Feather, Tommy Littleowl, Nora Big Hair, Nadine Bird Hat. Close Friends: Sonny Falls Down, Richard Real Bird, Floyd Morris, Sonny Joe Reed, Wille Stewart. Extended Family Includes the PlainFeather, House, He Does It, Not Afraid, Real Bird, Moccasin, Flat Mouth, Smells, Bird, PlainBull, BigHair, Littleowl, Bellrock, Other Black Bird, BadBear, OldCrow, Beaumont and Flat Lip.
