Obituary
Bruce Daniel Heide passed away on January 8, 2020 at his home in Billings (Lockwood), Montana. It was minus 29 degrees on January 21, 1966 when Bruce was born in Williston, North Dakota, the son of Daniel and Evelyn Heide. He was a happy blond little boy and roamed the neighborhood with his friends and neighbors. He attended Rickard Elementary School. In 1977 the family moved to Cody, Wyoming while Bruce was in Junior High. He enjoyed the outdoors and his Boy Scout troop. He also learned to ski and was on the slopes almost every weekend during the winter. The family moved back to Williston and Bruce attended Williston Senior High. He was on the cross country team, the ideal sport for a tall, slender young fellow. He worked part time after school at Jerry Harmon Motors and Cactus Concrete and was able to purchase his first pickup truck by himself, of which he was very proud. He graduated in 1984. After high school Bruce attended Wahpeton State School of Science where he enrolled in Business Administration. He married Jill Skaare in February 1985 and he began work at Jerry Harmon Motors as a salesman where he worked for many years. He and Jill had two children, Chelsea Lauren and Tate Bruce. Bruce and his family moved to Phoenix, Arizona where he worked in sales for Denali Systems and later employed in sales by Oak Creek Properties, and a tourism center in Sedona. Bruce returned to Williston where he continued working in sales at Murphy Motors, Blue Rock Pepsi and as an associate at Williston Home and Lumber. In 2014 Bruce moved to Billings and worked at S Bar S in Lockwood. His health began to deteriorate and for the last years of his life he struggled with pain and discomfort resulting in severe mobility problems. Bruce is survived by his daughter Chelsea, son Tate and grandson Rory, his mother Evelyn (Lyn) Heide, sisters Danette Cerise, Dr. Sheila (Tony) Klein, niece Clarissa Klein, and nephews Chauncey (Kristen) Klein and sons Carsten and Hudson, Tyler Cerise, and Jacques (Janell) Cerise and son Seger. He was preceded in death by his father Daniel Heide, grandparents Martin & Ann Heide, Sever and Ella Rustad, uncles, aunts, and cousins. Bruce was a kind-hearted gentle man and loved the outdoors. Skiing was his passion and the nickname his daughter had for him was so appropriate – “Daddy Long Legs”. He also enjoyed fishing, boating, water skiing and camping. As his health declined he was not able to participate in those activities but he could look out his window and watch deer peacefully grazing in the field. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials be sent to the Food Pantry at Peace Lutheran Church, 1301 Avenue D, Billings MT 59102. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at the Dahl Funeral Chapel on January 21, 2020 (his birthday) at 2:00 p.m, His final resting place will be at Hillside Memorial Gardens in Williston, North Dakota beside his father Dan and grandparents Martin and Ann Heide. May God bless the memory of Bruce Heide.
