Obituary
Robert John Peterson was born in Glendive, Montana on August 17, 1936. He passed away on February 18, 2020 at the age of 83. Bob was the oldest son of Clarence and Emma (Bren) Peterson and was raised on the family farm north of Lindsay, Montana. He graduated from Dawson County High School in 1953. After graduation, he worked on the family homestead until taking over his Uncle Joe Bren's farm following Joe's death. At one time, Bob also farmed for four additional families in the area while also managing his own farm. In addition to farming, Bob was a true cattleman at heart and raised Black Angus cattle. Bob continued to farm and ranch until his seventies when he moved to Miles City and later Billings. The church was an important part of Bob's life and he was a faithful member of Lindsay's Deer Creek Lutheran Church. His faith was passed on to each of his children, a gift they are eternally grateful for. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Richard Bray and Duane Peterson and infant sister, Jean. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Barbara; his step-son Mark Golden of Chillicothe, IL; daughters Kimberly Mangels of Billings, MT and Brenda Beverly of Olympia, WA; sister Shirley Boles of Plains, MT; brother Jim Peterson of La Barge, WY; 5 grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Billings Clinic and the RiverStone Hospice House for the care Bob received during the last few days of his life. A funeral service for Bob will be held on Saturday, February 22 at 1:30 pm at the Dahl Funeral Chapel in Billings. Interment will be Monday, February 24 at 1 pm at Dawson County Cemetery in Glendive, Montana.

Dear Barb and family- We remember Bob as a sweet, gentle man. We know your loss is great and we are praying that the Comforter continues to wrap each one of you in His love. We enjoyed our time together during Brenda's high school years and was always fun to see Bob. Barb, especially thinking of you!
