Obituary

Marian J. Fergerson, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away March 13, 2020, at the age of 88. Marian was born October 5, 1931, in Hardin, MT, to Joseph Russell Vickers and Rose Eleanor Pfau, the youngest of 3 sisters. She graduated from Hardin High School in 1949 where she was a cheerleader and a representative to the very first girls' state conference in MT. She met William (Bill) D. Fergerson in Hardin where they were married on June 18, 1950. They were married for 55 years until his death in 2005. They remained in Hardin for a short time where their daughter, Lynn, was born in 1952. They relocated to Worland, WY, later that year where their daughter, Diane, was born in 1954, and their son, Ross, in 1956. During their 22 years in Worland, Marian worked in various offices at the Washakie County Courthouse. Later, she worked as the school secretary at Northside and Westside. They relocated to Hardin in 1973, and then to Cody, WY in 1974. Marian ran a laundromat, taught for Cody Home Start, and ended her working years as a teacher's aide in the Cody school system. Marian was a talented, creative crafter and painter. Her love of painting and teaching led her to open the Tole Trail Shop in her home in Cody where she taught for many years. Her business and painting were her pride and joy. She made many dear friends through her shop. In 2015 she moved to Billings, MT to be closer to her daughter, granddaughter, and great-grandchildren. Marian loved meeting people, helping others, and bringing people together. Most of all, she delighted in her family and loved attending activities and events of her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill, her parents, and her sister, Ellen Jean Hickey. Marian is survived by her daughters, Lynn Johnson and Diane Fergerson of Billings, her son, Ross (Kim) of South Bend, IN, her sister, Lois Schaller of Cody, grandchildren, Tara (Grant) Wallis of Billings, Beau (Crystal) Krause of Carthage, MO, Ryan of Nashville, Jason of Mishawaka, IN, Tim Macke of Phoenix, and Robin Fjelseth of Billings, and 3 great-grandchildren, Nolan and Madison Wallis of Billings and Kaden Krause of Carthage, MO. A memorial service will be held in Cody, WY at a later date with interment in Riverview Cemetery next to Bill. Sympathy cards can be sent in care of Lynn Johnson, 42 Ave. C, Billings, MT 59101.

Lynn, Diane & Ross, Your parents were very good people, and their being in Worland helped to make our community a better place. Your Mom was a loved by all those who came in contact with her. I still miss your Dad and the good times I had with him at the fire department. There are very few of us left from those good old days. - David Veile

Dear Lynn, Diane and Ross, One of my fondest memories is when my family took the only vacation I can remember, probably around 1962, and came to Worland to visit you guys. We had so much fun!! I also think I have pictures of a time when you came to Hardin and we were doing acrobatics in our front yard. Your mom was such a sweet lady and I was lucky enough to see her a couple years ago when Susan Frickel Jerke brought her to Hardin for Country Fun Day at the Big Horn County Historical Museum. My mom is just 2 months younger than yours and I know they spent a lot of time together growing up. Mom had really wanted to call and visit with your mom, but never got it done and is so sorry for your loss also. Our prayers go up for you and all your families. Vicki Yerger Little

Your mom and my mother had so much fun at school and with their painting. I always enjoy their conversations when we meet for lunch when I took mom to Cody for her doctor appointments. Loved her laugh and joy for life! Vicky Eulberg Gopp
