Charlotte Anderson

Charlotte J. Anderson (Sweetser) 98 Charlotte Anderson passed away peacefully and entered into Glory after a week long battle in the hospital with congestive heart failure and pneumonia in the Billings Clinic on April 1, 2020 with her family by her side. Charlotte was born on August 22, 1921 to Charles and Gladys Sweetser in Forsyth, Montana. She was the oldest of her 4 siblings. Charlotte grew up on the family ranch on Sarpy Creek as well as their home in town, in Hysham, MT. She graduated from Hysham High School in 1939 and went on to attend college at University of Montana for a year or so and then went to Billings Business School. She was a Veteran in WWII and served as a Wave in the female branch of the Navy. She was stationed in New York as well as Farragut Naval Base in Idaho and also in Oakland, CA. She was married to Gerald (Jerry) Anderson in 1954 in Billings and they had two children, Gary and Charlene before getting divorced in 1963. She spent most of her life working for the U.S. Gov't in administrative positions at various branches including, the Bureau of Land Management, the U.S. Forest Service and the Bureau of Indian Affairs. After retiring from the Government in her 50's, she then worked for Kreiner Optical in Billings at West Park Plaza until she retired again in 1984. She spent the remainder of her life living in Billings. Charlotte was involved in her church as well as various Bible studies and other Christian fellowship groups. She also enjoyed spending time with good friends, playing bridge, etc. She also loved to cook wonderful food for family and friends. Charlotte loved to play the piano and played almost daily right up to a week or two before her passing. She loved her children and grandchildren and put all of her love and care toward them her entire life. Her family was everything to her! She loved her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ and because of her great & amazing faith she almost made it to 99 years, in spite of many health problems, including congestive heart failure and macular degeneration. She never complained and continued to persevere even through her health problems. She is survived by her son Gary (Paula) Anderson (Spokane, WA) and daughter Charlene (Ron) Seder; 2 granddaughters, Erin Anderson & Natalie Anderson (Spokane) as well as her sister Alberta Sherrow (Bellevue, WA) and several nieces and nephews. Her daughter Charlene was her caregiver & best friend for the last several years and because of her perseverance Charlotte finished the “race” well. Her family deeply loved her and she will be greatly missed. Her last spoken words to her son & daughter at the hospital a couple days before passing were: “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7). We are so glad she has arrived in her heavenly resting place.
