Perry Sorenson

Perry Olaf Sorenson, age 69, of Billings, Montana, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 21, 2020. His wife and adult children were by his side. Perry was born on December 6, 1950 to Palmer and Mabel (Johnson) Sorenson. He was the third child, first son, of a family of five children. He grew up in Sheridan County in northeast Montana attending various country schools before moving into Westby, Montana. During high school, Perry competed in basketball, football, and track where he was a pole vaulter. He had a God-gifted talent of music and sang with the Westby choir, church choirs, and many solos throughout the years. He graduated from Westby High School in 1968. After high school, Perry attended Northern Montana College in Havre, Williston State College in North Dakota, and later graduated from Helena Vo-Tech in computer programming. Perry also served in the Army National Guard from 1969 until being honorably discharged in 1975. Perry worked as a carpenter for several years in Kalispell, Montana and then worked in sales in Billings. In 1978, Perry had a son, Jesse Cole, and in 1980, he had a daughter, Kolby Dyan. He was a wonderful father and they were very close. For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. Philippians 1:21 In 1989, Perry gave his life to Christ and from that moment, he lived to tell people about Jesus. From 1986-1992, Perry owned Roundup Hardware store. He loved to visit and used this place in the public to tell everyone about the love of Christ. In 1993, Perry bought Innsight Systems, a computer software company with his brother, Stan. He worked here until present and used this career as another opportunity to share his faith. Perry enjoyed sports, music, and hunting. He was a salesman at heart and loved to buy and sell vehicles, horses, and guns but most of all he strived to sell Jesus and bring people to Christ. Shortly after becoming born again, Perry met the love of his life, Laura. In 1995, Perry was diagnosed with kidney failure and in 1998, he started dialysis. For two years, he traveled to Billings every other day to endure three hours of dialysis. He always said that God was using this illness so Perry could tell people about Jesus. God makes all things beautiful in his time. Ecclesiastes 3:11 In 2001, Perry received a kidney transplant, a living kidney donation from his cherished friend and soon-to-be sister in law, Ann Stahl. Soon after his transplant, Perry and Laura wed, on September 15, 2001. Despite medical professionals saying they would not be able to bear children, in 2008, Laura and Perry were blessed with a daughter, Hannah Jade, and in 2013 another daughter, Saige Riley, joined the family. These girls were his pride and joy and kept him young at heart. Throughout the last years of Perry's life, he was stricken again with kidney failure needing dialysis. Perry suffered greatly during the last years and months but, through it all, he continued to praise Jesus and knew that through his life and even in his suffering God would be magnified. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7 Perry is survived by his wife Laura (Stahl) and two young daughters, Hannah and Saige; his adult children, Jesse of Plentywood, MT, Kolby (Justin) Carrier and three grandchildren Tage, Huntlie, and Kyler Carrier of Williston, ND; his siblings, Mavis (Jim) Weiler, Daryl (Donna) Sorenson all of Westby, MT, and Stanley (Robyn) Sorenson of Gurnee, Illinois; and his many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Laura's siblings and their families, his church family, and many close friends whom he loved dearly. Perry was preceded in death by his parents Palmer and Mabel (Johnson) Sorenson, his sister LaVonne Alexander, his in-laws Eli and Suzanna Stahl, and his best friend and brother-in-law, Eli Stahl.
