Eymard Lefthand

Our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend was called home by our heavenly Father on July 24th, 2020. Eymard Lefthand age 73 was known as Aawaakoole Xiaaseesh (Outstanding landmark)name given to him by his maternal grandfather Elken Stands OverBull. Eymard was a member of the Big Lodge Clan and Child of the Big Lodge Clan. Eymard was born in Pryor, Montana to Anna Jean Stands OverBull and Tyler Lefthand on January 24th,1947. He was raised by his grandparents the late Goldie Dust and Elkin Stands OverBull in Pryor, Montana. Eymard was a member of the Arrow Creek Christian Church in Pryor. He received his elementary education at St. Charles, Pryor Public, and Billings Schools. Eymard graduated from Edgar High School in 1966 where he won the 1966 State basketball title. Eymard was the 1966 Edgar Wild Cats Most Valuable Player. He was well known throughout the state as one of the best basketball players in 1966. He went on to college and obtained a bachelor's degree from Eastern Montana College in Physical Education. Eymard's career included coaching basketball, fighting fires, working on ranches during his highschool summers, Truancy Officer and Athletic Director for Plenty Coups High School, and teaching Physical education at Pryor Public School for 21 years where he retired in 2013. In 1999 Eymard married the love of his life of 21 years of whom he loved dearly Sarah Hugs-Lefthand. Eymard was a devoted husband, grandfather, and dad who loved his family unconditionally. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, arrow thrower, basketball coach and outdoorsman. Always helping others, often giving his best advice in his most famous line “You make the call”, he loved coaching others, and most importantly being a father and grandfather. Eymard enjoyed taking part in his cultural ways which included; painting traditional leather belts, throwing arrows in which he became a champion multiple times and making arrows from sunrise to sun down just to finish a pair. Eymard started the Little Guy Arrow tournament 18 years ago giving young arrow throwers the opportunity to throw. He was well known for his arrow making and picking the best sticks throughout the reservation. Many commended him for his arrow tournaments and how organized/clean they were. He was a very fluent Crow speaker. Eymard was a humble soul, never one to brag about himself or his children. He had a heart of gold and truly believed God was the one to credit for everything. Eymard loved the game of basketball, he was an avid Plenty Coups Warrior, Hardin Bulldogs, and Rocky Mountain College fan. Often never missing a game, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren play basketball, they would often recall him as their biggest fan. Eymard always looked for ways to help improve his grandchildren, players, and students basketball abilities because he knew they had the ability to play at a higher level. Eymard had a kind genuine soul often looking out for others and encouraging players before or after games as he knew they had potential. He touched and changed many lives through the game of basketball and referring to the game of basketball as a tool to a higher education. Eymard truly believed that education was the key to success. He encouraged many around him to step out of their comfort zone and explore the world. Eymard was proud of his children and grandchildren and loved them dearly. Eymard is preceded in death by his mother Anna Jean Stands Overbull and father Tyler Lefthand. His brothers Gilbert Lefthand Sr., Tyler Lefthand Jr. and Lawrence Lefthand. His uncle Patrick Stands Overbull, Ira, Anthony, Eddie, and Melvin Lefthand. Aunt Rosie Stands-Rock Above. His sons Darnell Lefthand and Darrell Lefthand. His grandmothers Goldie Dust, Volka Bloodman, and his grandfather's Elken Stands OverBull, and Tyler Lefthand. Survivors include his wife of 21 years Sarah Lefthand. His adopted mother Joann Rock Above who adopted Eymard as they would attend many camp meetings when Eymards father and mother would preach. Children: Daughters: Sarah Stewart (Stanley Rideshorse) Lori Stewart, Tiara Lefthand (Sonny Black Eagle), Marcia Yarlott, Yolonda Yarlott, Sheri (Mark) Farwell. Sons: Darwin Lefthand, Richard Lefthand, Gilbert Jr. Lefthand, Tody (Lisa) Lefthand, Cameron Black Eagle, Victor (Adrena) Yarlott, Aaron Yarlott. Adopted sons: Clarent (Athena) Stewart, Gilford Sees The Ground, Leanord Gardner. His grandchildren whom he raised as his own Darrelyn, Darnell, and Famous. Grandchildren: (Grandsons) Darnell (Aubrey) Lefthand, Famous Lefthand, Irvin Crow, Thomas Crow (Farah Door), Richard Crow Sr. (Luisa Sanchez), Tony Rideshorse, Caron Lefthand, Richard Lefthand Jr., Dane, Jayden, Jaiven, Darrell, Keyshaun Lefthand. (Granddaughters): Darrelyn Lefthand (Jacie Hogan), Trinity Lefthand, Ashley Crow, Tylynn Lefthand (Jessie OldCrow), Taniesha (JC) Pretty Paint, Trenay, Hailyn, Tisa, Latisha (Alvin) Turnsplenty, Jarielle Lefthand, Talene Not Afraid, Raeshon, Manina, Cadence, Fanci Lefthand, Lorri Old Bull, Ashleigh Farwell, Narissa Reed, Arion, Nashon, Tanessa, Zayda, Breylei, and M'leigh. Great grandchildren: Hunter, Trevor, Thomas Jr., Zariah, Ta'mae, Charmer,Jessie, Vincia, Tony Jr., Myla, and Capri Lefthand. Adopted brothers: Edward Real Bird, Karl Big Hair Sr. and George Little Wolf.
