Obituary
Guy Charles Glenn was born to Joseph and Helen Glenn in Parma, Ohio in 1930. He received his undergraduate education from Denison University and graduated from the University of Cincinnati Medical School in 1957. He enrolled in the United States Army and served for twenty years, retiring with the rank of Colonel. He was stationed in San Francisco, Stuttgart, (Germany,) Spokane, and then in London where he was attached to the Royal Army Medical College. Other posts included Denver and El Paso, Texas. He published over 25 professional papers and presented others at medical meetings and seminars. He accumulated numerous accolades, including the Army Commendation Medal, the Legion of Merit, The College of American Pathologists Presidential Honors Medal and he became a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International. He married Lucia Howarth in 1953. They had three daughters, Kathryn, Carolyn and Cynthia. Upon retiring the family moved to Billings where he became Chief of the Pathology department at Saint Vincent Healthcare. Wife Lucia died in 2009 and daughter, Kathryn died in 2012. In 2015 he married widow and long-time friend, Elizabeth McNamer. He died at Saint Vincent Healthcare on October 4, 2020. Guy lived life graciously. He was widely admired, loved and respected and preferred to do good deeds quietly, without a lot of fanfare. A memorial service will be held at Saint Andrew's Presbyterian Church on Thursday October 22, 2020 at 1:30 PM with graveside services directly following at Sunset Memorial at 3PM. Services will be livestreamed directly to this obituary page and a recording will be available here afterwards. All services will comply with state and local regulations. Guy is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, his daughters, Carolyn and Cynthia, son-in-law, Dr. David Walker and three grandchildren, Daniel, Emily and Lindsey. In addition to talking about his beloved first wife and daughters and his work experiences, Guy loved to talk about hunting. He often shared stories of exotic hunts in far flung places. He also often shared one of his favorite stories of “a remarkable retrieve by my dog Kate” on the Bighorn River. I enjoyed that story because it reflected not only his passion for the great outdoors but also a tenderness of heart that he had for the things he loved including his much admired black lab.

Guy had such a huge, gentle heart. He would often bring flowers home for Elizabeth. He would get so excited as he prepared them; like a small child full of so much joy. He told so many stories about growing up in the mid-West, the games he would play as a boy, his time in Germany, his adventures around the world, the love he had for his first wife Lucia, how proud he was of his children and grandchildren, the dogs he had trained and hunted with, the wonderful times up in the Rosebud cabin, all wrapped in his humor, wit, wisdom, and gentleness. When I was struggling through the first year of PA school, he would sympathize with me, reminding me of his journey in medical school. His was a calm voice steadying me saying, "you can do it." My deepest condolences and prayers for the family. By being one of the PA students that lived in Elizabeth's house, I had the great honor to be under the same roof as Dr. Guy Glenn. To have known him and to have these stories and memories of him are treasured keepsakes I will hold onto until I meet him again in Glory.

What a beautiful service for Guy. We so enjoyed the time he spent with us. I was thinking of him waking up early, sitting in our living room looking out at the birds through the big picture window (and able to identify each one), drinking his cup of Sanka, and kept company by our golden retriever Kirby, who knew a dog lover when he found one. A message to Cynthia and Carolyn. I was very sad to read that your father passed away in October of 2020. We had lost contact after we moved from Alaska in 2011. Your father was not only my commanding officer while assigned at Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center in Denver, but a mentor, friend, and role model during my Army career. The last time we met, was when my brother and I passed through Montana as we drove from Alaska to Kentucky. He graciously offered an overnight at his cabin and introduced us to his wonderful family (Carolyn, and kids). In his memory, my wife and I will be making a contribution to the Wounded Warrier organization. Our fishing trips in Alaska, skiing in Colorado, and sailing adventures will live with me forever. He convinced me that I needed to buy a sail boat and he would race on weekends at the Cherry Creek Reservoir in Denver. Little did he know that I would own a sailboat the rest of my life! I miss him dearly.
