Laura Rides Horse

Laura Alvine Morrison Rides Horse, 55 gained her Angel Wings on October 8, 2020 at St Vincent Hospital with her husband by her side. “Lady who helps her people” given to her by Tilton Old Bull, was born July 30, 1965 in Crow Agency to Alvin and Roseline Yarlott Morrison, Jr. She was member of the Greasy Mouth Clan and Child of Piegan Clan. Laura received her education in the Hardin School District, graduating from Hardin High School in 1983. She later attended Eastern Montana College. Laura married Henry “Hanks” Rides Horse, Jr., on July 23, 1994 in Crow Agency, Montana. They made their home in Black Lodge. She was a seasonal fire fighter, until she started her career working in Law Enforcement in 1990. She graduated in 1992 from Indian Police Academy in Marina, New Mexico. Upon graduation, she returned to Crow Agency to continue her career, she was a jailer/telecommunications operator for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. During her career in Law Enforcement, Laura made a lot of friends, whom she took as brothers and sisters. In 2009, she worked for Office of Public Assistance until 2013. She was the Cabinet Head for Homeland Security, FEMA, and DES from 2013 thru 2016. During this employment Laura, was awarded many grants to help the Crow Tribe. She was currently employed by the Office of Public Assistance since 2018. Laura loved her home and lived all her life on the Morrison Ranch in Black Lodge. Her favorite pastime was to travel with her family to the Big Horn Mountains. Her father, and brother Larry Kane would take her to the mountains during the summers in the 1980's, since they oversaw the Buffalo Pasture. She even rode horseback thru Soldiers trail with her brothers. Laura had a heart for all children, raising most of her sibling's children in Black Lodge. Her door was always open for all who needed a place to eat, sleep and be loved. She took a lot of other children in as her own. Her parents, brothers Alvin III, Larry Kane, Randy Morrison, Fred Jr and Edgar Alden, sister Gustine Old Bear, Sons Alvin Morrison, IV, and Dominic Flatmouth, Sr., Henry “Mickey” Rides Horse preceded Laura in death. Survivors include her husband, her children, Larry James, Hanks, Frank, Bethany, RayVon, Stephanie, Micah (CJ) Other Medicine, Allen Chico Plainbull, Carlena Flatmouth, Frank Two Bull, Jr, Eric (Beatrice), Bridget (Austin). Grandchildren Angelita, Henry Alvin, Royalty, Tayzlee, Tyzell, TaRayah, L. Thomas, Lena, Anton, Hannah, Sammy Jo, Angel, Dominic Jr “Reggie” (Martika), Thomas James, Harmon, April Fray, Ervin, Henry IV, Cyrilla, Noah, Jericho, Weston, Jayla, Rose, Austin, Jr. and her queen Chantel Arlee . Great Grandchildern Anna Lisa, and Cashus, Great-Great Granddaughter Harmony. Children whom she raised, Seneca, Janey, Robert, Sarai and Alvah, Brothers Benito (Kathy), James Morrison, Art Alden, Ronald Flatmouth, Jr., Randall (Sierra) Not Afraid, Curtis (Samatha) Rides Horse, Wayne Edgar, Marlin “YoYo” (Reva) Not Afraid, Sisters Francine and Linda Morrison, Eugenia (Dustin) Harden, Jackie (Larry) Blacksmith, Roberta Old Bear, Glenda and Judith Morrison.
