Our beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend went to the other side camp on October 12, 2020. Her husband and her sister were in her presence at the Awe Kuaalawaache Center in Crow Agency, MT. Rena Faye Lefthand-Pickett age 72 was known as Ihchitchiaeh Aapiash. (Wears Sacred Tobacco Seed Necklace). Her name was given to her by Miles Fighter. Rena was a member of the Bad War Deed Clan and a Child of the Big Lodge Clan. She was born on December 26, 1948 in Crow Agency, Montana to Ira and Ramona Big Lake-Lefthand. Rena was a member of the Catholic Church, Native American Church and Sacred Tobacco Society. She is a descendant of Chief Pretty Eagle. Rena grew up in Lodge Grass, Montana. Rena received her education at Lodge Grass Schools and graduated from Lodge Grass High School in 1967. Rena received a certification of training @ University of Montana, Vocational Training Program for Native American students. She was employed by Crow Tribe Competent Lease program and she was a homemaker most of her life. She married Joseph A. Pickett, Jr. @ Poplar, MT. on May 7th 1973. In that union they had two sons Emerson and J.D. Pickett. Adopted sons Billy Ray Eastman, Brian Schwitzer, Mark Bruised Head, Travis Reed, Clay Spotted and Jarrod Frank. Rena was preceded in death by her parents and her son Emerson Ira Pickett. Grandparents Pete & Folka (Bloodman) Lefthand & James & Edith (WhiteClay) Big Lake. Rena was adopted into the Sacred Tobacco Society by Hugh & Winona Plenty Hoops. She had the serving rite in the Sacred Tobacco Society. Survivors include her husband of 48 years Joe Pickett her son Joseph (Jolauna) Pickett, III, Her sister Myra Lefthand; her niece Kari Aldean Covers Up Grandsons: Josiah (Tia) Pickett, Cervante Stops, Shawn (Mamie) Walks Over Ice Jr., and Buren Walks Over Ice. Granddaughters: Vana (Austin) Pickett-Monroy, Emmerson and Kaydence Pickett, Jena Fay (Marlon) Pickett-Joe, Chelsey Pickett, Emily (Rueben) Pickett-Yellowtail, Savannah Pickett, Mya Jade Walks Over Ice, and Zeruiah (Darrian) Stewart-Backbone, Sr. Great Grandchildren: Skyler Pickett, Carlido Monroy, D'neja Wegner, Julian and Ze'andre Pickett, Milani Plenty Hawk, Army, Emersyn and Marlei Joe, Rocky and Emeryn Yellowtail, Manziel, Darrian Jr., and Alenna Backbone, KyMani, Kallen and Ivory Walks Over Ice. Uncles: Marshall (Barbra) Lefthand and Frederick Lefthand. Aunts: Clarice (Edward) Denny, Loretta Three Irons, Francine (John) Small, Debbie (Mike) Gust, Sheri and Joyce LaForge, Mary Ten Bear, Janet Birdinground, Jennifer Flatlip, Lois White Hip, Rosemary Lincoln, Rebecca White Clay and Charlotte Black Elk. Grandmother Veronica WhiteClay. Extended families: Emily Lincoln, Thelma Bird In Ground, Marie Yellowtail, Dorthy Big Lake-Hugs, Mary Agnes Big Lake-Shane, Big Lake, White Clay, Lefthand and Blood Man families. Black Elk family of South Dakota.
