Samantha Black Eagle

Samantha Jean (Rideshorse) BlackEagle, 55, of Crow Agency, MT passed away October 15, 2020 at Sheridan Memorial Hospital in Sheridan, WY. She was born December 5, 1964 in Crow Agency to Marie Lincoln and Samuel Rideshorse Jr. Her Indian name is “Recapturing Prisoners of War”, given to her by her late grandfather Francis Thunder Iron Lincoln. She was a member of the Ties the Bundle and a child of the Ties the Bundle. Samantha grew up in the Crow Agency area, attended Kinsman School, PrettyEagle Catholic School and graduated from Hardin High School in 1983. While in school she participated in basketball. She spent many days with Karna, Almeda and Nellie Ann. She was raised in the Four Square Church. Samantha married her best friend Larry BlackEagle on June 8, 1985 in Crow Agency and the couple made their home in Lodge Grass, MT. She started her employment at Quick Mart, Crow Tribe and she began her lifetime career as Medical Clerk with Indian Health Service for 25 years. She and Larry became a big part of the staff who all became family. She enjoyed being a Grandmother to Sadie, Blake and Kysen. She had a special bond with them; she loved supporting her granddaughter Sadie in sports. Life will never be the same. She was a big Kansas City Chiefs fan and enjoyed watching PBR Bull Riding, especially when they came to Billings. She liked catching up on Facebook. Everyone knew her by “Sami”. She was always willing to help anyone and everyone with Prayers and Encouraging Words with that beautiful smile!! And with her perfect Hairdo! She was preceded in death by: Mother Marie; Adopted Mother Ramona Backbone; grandparents Emily and Francis Lincoln, Samuel Rideshorse Sr., Ruth Tobacco, Tom Tobacco; sister Katherine Arellano; brother Francis “Kebo” White Hip; nieces Jocilynn Wheeler-Funke, Janet BrightWings.
