Floyd Boeckel

Floyd D. Boeckel, 85 of Hardin, MT passed away peacefully on November 15, 2020. He was born December 26, 1934 in Sidney, MT, the son of the late John and Katie Boeckel. Floyd came to Big Horn County with his parents to the St. Xavier area in 1939, and attended the St. Xavier and Hardin School. Floyd farmed in the St. Xavier area until the 1980's. He then worked for Matovich Oil, Holly Sugar beet factory, drove school bus for the Hardin school district, did Mosquito Control for the City of Hardin, and worked for Big Horn County Sanitation. His truck driving friends would know him as “the hook” as he did do various truck driving jobs through the years. On November 5, 1966 he married Veryl Ann Schmidt and they resided in the St. Xavier area and then Hardin. They had three daughters Carrie, Kathie, and Susan. Floyd was preceded in death by his father and mother John and Katie Boeckel, brothers, Emil, Walter, Alvin, Albert, Hayden, Gordon, and Bob. He is survived by his sister Freda Amen, daughters Carrie Shick, Kathie (Brian) O'Dell, Susan (Gary) Bartlett; grandchildren Bradley Shick, Tyler Shick, Brandon O'Dell, Kaylee O'Dell, Melinda McDonald, Christopher Bartlett, Katherine Bartlett, and special daughter/friend Candace (Justin) Edwards; Great granddaughter Emily Shick, mother-in-law Marilyn Schmidt, bothers-in-law Ron (Alice) Schmidt; Kendall (Marie) Schmidt. Numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Floyd favorite pass time was hunting, fishing, playing cards and shooting the bull with his coffee friends. He was a loving father to his girls and always ready to lend a helping hand to his friends.
