Ronald Beaumont

Ronald James Beaumont, Sr., Baashóop Bachée Itchísh (Chief of Four Deeds), entered this world on June 11, 1950, in Hardin, MT to Martha Sun Goes Slow and Philip Beaumont, Sr. Ronnie was a member of the Greasy Mouth Clan and Child of the Bad War Deeds Clan. As a child, Ronnie was given his Crow name, Owns Fast Horses, by Jim Big Shoulder. In adulthood, during Crow Fair, Dr. Joe Medicine Crow bestowed upon him the name of Baashóop Bachée Itchísh after telling the story of the Four Deeds needed to become a Crow Chief. He was honored to have Joe give him the rights to his song. Ronnie was a direct descendent of Chiefs Bell Rock and Plenty Coups. Ronnie joined his siblings Edwina, Phil Jr., Dennis (deceased), and his younger sister, Jolene. In 1975 he married Marcia Billedeaux. His children are Neal, Jami, Josh, Salena (John), Athena (Clarent), Stephen “Smitty” (deceased), Ron Jr., and Martha “Tessa” (Darrell). Ronnie spent most of his life in Pryor and was a graduate of Edgar High. As a young man, Ronnie was known for his athleticism, especially on the football field where he would outrun most anyone on the field. He spent much of his time outside of school helping his brother, Dennis, with chores around the ranch and spending time with his many cousins. Ronnie also developed a love for horses and was known by many for his horsemanship. He could train a horse with a rope and his patience, hardly ever having to use a whip. The work he completed around the ranch taught him to be a master fencer as he had strung miles and miles of fence throughout his lifetime. He helped his father raise Hereford cattle and respected the ranching life. Being a cattleman was second to his love for horses. Ronnie was known to raise prized Quarter Horses and had a great respect for horses. As he taught his children and grandchildren about horses, he would tell them that the horse was an intelligent animal and they could sense your love or fear of them and to always treat the animal with respect. The lessons he shared with his children about horses was how he treated most everyone he encountered, with kindness and respect. Ronnie spent his ranching career assisting his father with the Beaumont Ranch operations as he managed the ranch that his father established. He and his wife, Marcia, raised their children together on the family's beloved ranch where he also raised horses and cattle, managed farm and pasture land, and built miles of fence. Once he was asked what he knew the most about and he responded with, “building fences.” After the work around the ranch was done, Ronnie spent his evenings at the roping arena he had built with his sons. They would spend hours team roping. Although Ronnie loved his family ranch very much, it was his family that he loved even more. He worked his entire life maintaining the legacy his father and mother built and was proud of the fact that his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews could wander from one end of the ranch to the other never leaving their family's land. Ronnie attended Upward Bound and Eastern Montana College. He believed, like Chief Plenty Coups, that education was important. He served his community as a School Board member and worked on the board to assure all Pryor children earned high school diplomas and the opportunity to achieve a higher education. Ronnie also enjoyed being in the Pryor Mountains and spent many seasons on the mountains thinning the timber. Many of his favorite times were spent in the forest of the Pryor Mountains catching glimpses of the sun through the timber. More than anything, Ronnie valued family. As a direct descendent of Chief Bell Rock, through family stories, he learned the love of family is the essence of life. Although Ronnie loved all of his family members, he had some “favorites.” Among them were his favorite sister, Louella Merchant, his favorite Clan Sisters Ruby Plain Feather and Fanny Ward Cliff, his favorite Auntie/Moms Mary Lou Big Day and Angeline Whiteman. Also very special to him was his childhood friend Jerome Hugs Sr. and he could always count on his brothers Junior DeCrane and Robert Flat Lip. Sarah Faith, Lori Ann, Nicole, Shawna, Sarah Rose, Susette, Marcia and Molly are nieces he loved like daughters. As a family man, Ronnie was not only a loving father and uncle but he was the best Papa to all of his grandchildren. Ronnie loved being a grandfather and had a nickname for each of his children and grandchildren and would call out their names, even when they were not around. He spent his retirement checking up on each of his children and grandchildren, calling them on the telephone throughout the day just to hear their voices. As he would finish a conversation with one, he would then hang up to call the next. To his children and grandchildren, he was their teacher of life, always making time to listen and offer advice as needed. He was also known for his sense of humor, as he had the best one liners and witty comments that his children and grandchildren loved. Ronnie will be missed as his kindness touched many lives. His wife, children, and grandchildren will continue to carry on his legacy of family before anything else and his son in laws who he treated as his own, will help carry out the many lessons he shared with them. Survivors include his wife, children, and grandsons: Clarence Stewart, Jeremiah Beaumont, Aiden Russette, Stetson Beaumont, Aamaree “Murray” Clifton, Tommy, Levi, Cordell, Beau, Cody Blue Beaumont, Trajan Hill, Larris MaleBear Jr., Melton “Smiles” SpottedBear III, Kyle Birdinground, Kenny, Shawn & Eli LaMere, Wezley & Tommy Beaumont Jr.; granddaughters: Heather & Elizabeth “Sweetheart” Beaumont, Alyssa, Sienna & Thea Hill, Aaliyah, Maria, Fanci, Faith & Tayzha Stewart, Bria Gutierrez, Brianna Bull Shows, Jolene, Layla, Kiara Spottedbear, Keelee & Naomi Beaumont, Sophia LaMere, Jamekka Beaumont, Leilah Rides Horse, Stormi, Jaylynn & Neveah Beaumont; Goddaughters: Angel Goes Ahead & Gwendolyn Plainbull.
