When I visited last (summer 2019) grandfather and I were sitting on the back porch and it was softly raining. We just sat there in the dark cause it was night time and listened to the rain falling/ felt the cool breeze that followed . We sat in one another’s company and I’ve never felt so at peace in life. It’s a memory that’s so simple but I’ll never forget.

For me, Hank will forever define what it means to be a gentleman, someone who always tries to make sure the people around him are as comfortable as possible. Hank’s kindness, thoughtfulness, patience, good humor, and interest in the people around him have had a tremendous influence on me and many others. I am grateful to have known him.

Dad and his friends were epic pranksters in high school and college. The details are fuzzy but walling up the guys shower in the dorm to make a swimming pool stands out. As does the glow in the dark skull and blowing out the lights in physics class with a penny when they were studying circuits.

I have always enjoyed grandfathers wisdom. I remember this time when he wanted to build a grandfather clock with all three of us boys. We each had our own time with him cutting, staining, and then build these clocks with only us and him. As we constructed these clocks we would talk about life. The biggest lesson I learned was patience which I still struggle with from time to time. However I am so happy I got to share that moment with him to become a better person. I love you grandfather.

If you were a friend in need, Hank was a friend indeed. He had so much love in him, and he didn't hesitate to spread it around. Tim Cook
