Obituary
Gregory B. Brabec, 70, Billings, MT, arrived in his eternal home on December 15, 2020 due to COVID-19 complications. Greg was a man of quiet faith. He enjoyed golf with his senior league at Par 3, gardening, woodworking, home improvement and caring for his grandbabies. He was born on March 16, 1950 at St. Vincent Hospital, grew up and graduated in Bridger, MT. He spent many happy years in Dry Creek, enjoying cousins and other family. He also attended college at MSU Billings (EMC) In 1972 he married Susan Ballard and they shared 3 children. He later married Penny Fielder in 1985, who brought 2 step daughters into his life. Early in his life he was manager of the old Fox Theatre (Alberta Bair Theater) in addition to other theaters in Montana. In 1975 he began his grocery career at Ryans/SuperValu and retired in 2012 (37 yrs) as inventory control supervisor. Greg is predeceased by parents Hubert and Patricia Brabec, brother Mark Brabec, sister-in-law Fran Brabec and nephew Michael George. He is survived by his wife Penny, daughters Jennifer (Gary) Grams, Kristie (Derrick) Fox, Joe (Deborah) Brabec, step daughters Andrea (Kim) Fielder and Brett (Josh) Jakubek, his sister Diane (Mike ) George, brother Ron Brabec, twin brother Eric (Margie) Brabec, brother Jim Brabec, his Aunts Kay Wilson and Frances Larson, 12 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Private services (due to COVID-19) will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 11 am at St. Pius X Church in Billings, MT. The service will be available for viewing at www.stpiusxblgs.org/worship/streaming-mass. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Vincent DePaul to help victims of COVID-19. Dahl Funeral Chapel is entrusted with the arrangements.

Greg was a close friend for over 30 years. We met at Ryans. He was a dedicated employee and had a perfectionist drive for his work. We shared good times on our trips to Sturgis, good times playing golf with the Seniors at Par 3, having coffee, and just talking. He will remain a good friend in my memories and I will always remember our good times together.

I worked with Greg at Ryans and SUPERVALU for more years than I can count. He was not only a great employee and co-worker he was a great friend. He was well respected by all who worked with him. I left SV in 2005 but we continued to keep in touch. I wish we would have got together more often instead of just talking about it. I know his wife and family were very important to him as he always talked about them when we chatted. I made a habit of playing jokes on him and Penny and occasionally I would forget to tell them I was just kidding and have to make a late night phone call when I realized I had forgotten to set them straight. I know Greg is now in Heaven and that is a place we all want to be someday, he just beat us there and is pain free. I will think of him often, he was a good friend and will always be in my heart and memories. Scotty Armstrong
