Chris Mota

It doesn't end here- Chris handed us the baton 'til we meet again. He left a legacy that only a legend can leave. His larger-than-life personality and ever growing heart lives on in us all. To best describe Chris might be to compare him to dynamite-it comes in a small package but makes a huge impact! Chris wasn't a tall man, but he had the personality of a giant and shoes that can never be filled. He lived each day to the fullest. Honestly, I believe Chris went to sleep at night with a smile on his face and woke up with a smile. It was part of his DNA. Chris's gregarious, infectious laugh and loud voice would precede him with the intent of bringing the party. Once present that incredible smile lit up a room. You would get a hug or a slap on the shoulder or a poke in the gut if you were lucky. People would say he was so loud. We would tell him just because he was partially deaf in 1 ear didn't mean we were! It didn't matter because with Chris what you see is what you get. He was genuine to the core- he loved people; he was a joyful, kind soul, generous with his time and money. He loved unconditionally, and always took time to help people regardless of how inconvenient it was for him. He visited people in jail and at the hospital. Faithful & kind, he would always show up to help when you needed him. He enjoyed supporting his kids, family and friends. He especially enjoyed holidays. When Chris was coming, we always knew to make extra because he would invite someone who may be spending time alone. Chris was definitely of the mindset “the more the merrier”. He was a hard worker, starting at cleaning the company shop to becoming a franchise owner of Firemaster, where he crossed paths with so many people who have come to love him as we do… Chris recently had told us how much he had been praying for his niece Ashlee, who had been in the hospital undergoing numerous surgeries. He jokingly said he had been praying so much that Faith Chapel had called and asked him to become a pastor! I would say his life was a testimony of what a pastor is, as he lived many of the qualities found in Galatians 5:22-23: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control. We said, “See you later” on December 21st due to Covid. One friend said, “Heaven got a little bit louder today”! I say, “ Well done, good and faithful servant! Til we meet again!” You will be deeply missed for now, but “forever in our hearts”! Chris loved his Ruthie of 36 years. From their union they created 3 sons that were the highlight of Chris' world: Angelo ( Katie), Orlando ( Samantha), and his youngest son Marcos. Each one of these young men possess qualities of Chris. Chris's world became that much brighter when his grandson Jaxon was born. He cherished being Jaxon's papa. Chris is the beloved son of Julia and Jesse Mota; brother to Lisa (Shane), and Anthony (Jackie); uncle to his nieces Kimberlee, Ashlee, Lindsee ( Dustin)- and Sydnee, Alycia, Kynzie and nephews Darius, Thayer, Dylan, Aidan, Sam, Benito and Michael. He has numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family. A celebration of Chris's life will be at Faith Chapel Saturday January 9th @ 9:00 am use the Broadwater access.
