Monty Enberg

Monty J. Enberg entered God's Kingdom December 29, 2020 surrounded by a wonderful medical team at the VA hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. Monty was born on October 27, 1966 in Billings, Montana to Emil and Lorraine (Geiger) Enberg. He was the second oldest of six siblings. Monty went to Lockwood Schools and graduated in 1985 from Billings Senior High School. In 1989 Monty enlisted in the Army Reserves and did his boot camp training in Fort Dix, New Jersey. He was based with the 592nd Ordnance Company and was in the Delta 439 Wolf Pack. Monty was an EIT for truck driving school, which he completed. He learned to work on all military vehicles along with driving them. While there, he earned an Army service ribbon, marksmanship badge rifle, M16 and a sharpshooter marksmanship badge grenade. Monty's military training took him to Fort Hood, Texas where, after being tested for Lyme disease, discovered he had Multiple Sclerosis. He was no longer able to serve the country he loved so much and was medically discharged in 1996. At age 33, MS paralyzed him from the waist down, but after meeting with Neurology Specialist Dr. Roger Williams, he miraculously made a full recovery. Monty had a love for all animals, especially horses. He also loved music from the ‘80s, and his favorite band was Journey. He had a few artists that he also enjoyed like Britney Spears, Johnny Cash and Shania Twain. He had a knack for playing the keyboard and piano and did so wherever he could, always coming up with his own songs. Monty collected all sorts of eagle statues and trinkets including one eagle tattooed on his arm. As an artist, he loved painting and shadow art; his signature painting was of the universe with a wolf. "Talk to ya later ‘gator," was Monty's favorite phone call sign off, which prompted the response, “After a while ‘dile.” Sometimes he would grab your attention by switching the phrase, which would make him laugh. Monty was a jokester and loved to tease people, all in good fun. His sense of humor was contagious and he always lit up a room. Monty is preceded in death by his mom, dad, baby brother (Joe), grandparents Elsie and Joe Geiger, and Benjamin and Glennie Enberg, and special friend Candy Steiner. Surviving him are his sisters Tresa (Pete) Stewart, Crystal Enberg-West, Glennie Gusler, and Suzy Fischer, half-sisters Debbie Drechney, Rebecca Somerville, Gayle Enberg, and Patty Patton, half-brother Ben Neilson, nieces Crystal West Jr., Brianna West, Kendra Fischer, Kayla Fischer, Kaylee Fischer, Allison (Danielle) Hall, nephews James West, Trey Fischer, Michael Bibler, Aaron (Rebekah) Bibler, along with great nieces, nephews and many cousins.
