Vivian Reed

Mrs. Vivian Mary Thomas Reed, age 89, of Savage, Montana, joined the angels on Sunday morning surrounded by loved ones. She was born July 22, 1931, in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota in the back of I. M. Thomas Grocery, as the second of five children to the late Isaac M. Thomas and Corrine Trahan Thomas of Detroit Lakes. Preceded in death by her younger brother Isaac (Ike) Thomas Jr of Detroit Lakes and her daughter-in-law Hazel Reed of Virginia Beach, VA. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Francis Reed. At a young age, Vivian was told she would not bear children. She completed a novena and with her trusted faith, they were blessed with ten children: Gregory (Kristine) Reed of Beulah, ND, Anthony (Christine) Reed of Huntley, MT, Patrick (Georgeline) Reed of Florence, MT, Ronald (Jacqueline) Reed of Gillette, WY, Frederick (Debbie) Reed of Rapid City, SD, Douglas (Erna) Reed of Glendive, MT, Cheryl (Dean) Schmidt of Geraldine, MT, Ryan Reed of Sydney, MT, Bruce (Jody) Reed of Savage, MT, and Mary (Tommy) Quiroz of Sydney, MT. She tenderly loved all of her 27 grandchildren and their partners, 67 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Vivian is also survived by her older sister, Marie Sherman of Eau Claire, WI, and her two younger brothers, James Thomas of Detroit Lakes, MN and Michael Thomas of St. Cloud, MN. Vivian was a member of the St. Michael's Catholic Church in Savage, MT. She read her scriptures and participated in mediations daily. She would avidly crochet in the days when her hands were free. She prayed for her family every day and left us all a legacy of love and faith. Service for Vivian will be on Friday, January 22, 2021 at 10 a.m. in Billings, Montana at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community. The Funeral Mass will be livestreamed below.
