Obituary

Richard Thomas Davis, also known as Dick, passed away on March 19, 2026, in Billings, Montana at the age of 91.

Dick was born on February 14, 1935, in Pittston, Pennsylvania to parents Robert F. Davis and Doris Llewelyn. He spent his childhood and teen years in Mount Ephrain, New Jersey, and joined the Airforce after graduating from high school. In the Airforce, he served as a Radio Intercept Operator from 1955-1959. It was during these years that Dick married his beloved wife Jerry Young on September 1, 1957, and later were blessed with their daughter Michelle.  Together, Jerry and Dick raised Appaloosa horses in their younger years and spent many wonderful years together until Jerry’s passing in 2018.

Dick was active in church, where he enjoyed singing and spending time with the congregation. He also was active with the Shriners. Dick had a love for any animal. He would not hesitate to help any injured or abandoned animal. He was a truly compassionate human with a love for all living things.

Dick is preceded in death by his wife, Jerry, and his parents. He is survived by his daughter Michelle Davis, his brother Ralph Davis of New Jersey, and 2 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Butterfly Homes, Riverstone Hospice, and Cornerstone Caregiving for the wonderful and compassionate care provided.

A celebration of life is to be determined at a later date; however, memorial can be made out to Riverstone Hospice in Billings, Montana.

Michelle, I so enjoyed my visits with your Dad thru Hope UMC both at home and at Butterfly Homes. He was so sweet and appreciative always. He loved sharing memories of you and your Mom and sharing all his pictures around the house. You were so good to him, checking on him, bringing him to church. Thank you for that. It was hard to see him decline and move so slowly. Sincerely, Beth E, Hope Church. PS I loved his gentleness and sense of humor too!
