Michelle Brethorst

Michelle Marie Brethorst, 52, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2016 at her home. She was born on November 25, 1963 in Thermopolis, Wyoming to Ron and Marilynn (Sheard) Sexton. Michelle was the oldest of four children who grew up in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, Eugene, Oregon, and Billings, Montana. She graduated from Billings West High School and attended Montana State University Bozeman where she received a degree in Business. She worked in fashion, banking, and modeled in Denver, Colorado. Michelle and Brian have one son, Brendan Douglas Brethorst. Her greatest joy was watching Brendan grow into an independent, caring, young adult. Her family was not complete though without their two dogs and one cat. She loved spending time with her family, watching Brendan participate in his activities, taking walks with neighbors and going to movies with her mom. Michelle could quote from any book or movie and Brendan learned a great deal from her "philosophizing". She loved movies and was a voracious reader. Michelle also enjoyed interior design work and took great pride in updating her home with her clever ideas and plans. Michelle was preceded in death by her grandparents, Rosalie Sheard; William and Faye Sexton; aunt, Marie Huth; son-in-law, Steven Rush; mother-in-law, Janice Brethorst; and cousin, Amy Sheard. Michelle is survived by her husband Brian & son Brendan; Brian's children, Randy Tibbets, Chris Brethorst & Jory & Matt Boyce; grandchildren, Tyler & Maddisyn Boyce; brother, Doug Sexton; sister, Lisa Rush; sister, Laurie & Lane Maddock & their children Tanner & Drew Sullivan & Brock & Chaz Maddock; uncle, John & Mel Sheard; aunt, Charlene & Pat Nihill; cousins, Mike Sheard & family, Susan Sheard & Alex Lussier & Rosie Sartin & Family; aunt, Bonnie & Steve Lundin; cousins, Matt Lundin & family & Wade Lundin & family; father-in-law, Orlyn Brethorst; sisters-in-law, Kathy & Tom Johnson & Kris & Mark O'Dell; and special friend, John Cole Barnes. A private memorial service will be held at Dahl Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations can be made to the Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch Foundation or MSU Billings Foundation.
