Kathleen Harris

Kathleen Rose “Rosie” Harris was born June 7, 1937, the youngest daughter of Dewey Harris and Kathleen Montana Doyle. She was a beautiful baby with blue eyes and curly hair. Rosie grew up in Wyola playing with her older sister Francie and brothers Dick and Phil, and lots of cousins. She also lived in Sheridan, but Wyola was her most loved home. Rosie was a proud, strong woman of the Crow tribe, a member of the Ties the Bundle clan. She was appreciative and proud of her Crow heritage and loved to explain how expansive Crow land was at one time. We heard many stories of how they would travel their land, being out in the open. She never missed Crow Fair. Rosie met and married Myron Pease, and together they reared four children: Ken, Gregg, Todd and Scott. Myron worked for the BIA which allowed them to travel to different tribes and get acquainted with many people. They spent time in Browning, MT and Ft. Washakie, WY. Their boys grew up knowing many new places and making memories everywhere. They settled in Billings, MT; after the separation Rosie moved into her own apartment and worked at and after 22 years retired from Hennessey's. She was however, most proud of the years she spent with Indian Health Board, 20 years on the Board of Directors. This job allowed her to travel to Washington DC, Arizona, Seattle, Hawaii, Alaska and other numerous destinations. Rosie devoted her life looking after her family. She was always available with open arms and an open door. She was known for her kitchen skills, for making the best gravy, cakes, creamed eggs and pie, but her specialty was candy. She talked about learning to cook from her mom. Her brother Dick was a jockey, and brother Phil a horse trainer, and it's safe to say that all of us had at least one picture in the winner's circle. Rosie loved sewing and made her boys Halloween costumes, later sewing for her grandchildren. Her scrapbook skills were out of this world; the layout of pages were precise and beautiful. She devoted a whole bedroom to this hobby. Rosie is survived by sons: Gregg, Todd (Jean); sister: Francie; grandchildren: Cody (Shay), Craig (Bambi), Stephanie (Ben), Rebecca (Tommy), Kaylee, Amanda (Kenny), Jake, and Emily; great grandchildren: Kiara, Jase, Nyahrae, Addison, Alayna, Alivia, Halena, Ben Jr, Damian, Ayla, Lisha, Sophia, Sabella, Kyle, Angelica, Vanessa, Savannah, Rieal, Aurora, Akirralyn, Levi, Aubreyanna, Amaya, Messiah, and Remia; great great grandchild: Oaklyn Rose Ray. She was preceded in death by brothers: Phil and Dick; sons: Ken and Scott; and grandson: Dylan.
