Karen Goes Ahead

Karen Jeanette Goes Ahead went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 27, 2021. She was born in Crow Agency, MT on February 11, 1954, to Vincent Goes Ahead Sr. and Melda Cloud. She was a member of the Ties-in the Bundle Clan and child of the Greasy Mouth Clan. Karen attended grade school in Crow Agency and at St. Charles Mission in Pryor, MT. Karen graduated from Edgar High School in 1973. She attended Eastern Montana College, now MSU-Billings. She went on to obtain her Food Service certification under the State of Montana and was a cook for 27 years at Plenty Coups High School in Pryor where she was presently working. She had a passion for cooking and catered for many activities and events. Throughout her life she was always employed, and at times she held multiple jobs. A blue collar, hardworking individual, her work ethic was impeccable throughout her life. Karen grew up in Pryor and spent many years living in Billings, MT. She enjoyed watching her nephews, nieces, and grandchildren participate in sports and activities; she attended as many events as she could. She treasured her granddaughter Sephra Brandalyn Covers Up, and grandsons Isaac and Isiah Goes Ahead; she was very proud of everything they did. She also had great faith and enjoyed attending church. Karen was a kind-hearted woman, a hardworking and dedicated individual, a loving mother and kaale' to many people. She was preceded in death by her parents Vincent Goes Ahead Sr. and Melda Cloud; son Isaac Goes Ahead; nephews: Freddy Killsnight, Fallon Goes Ahead; nieces: Melda Little Light, Vincene Goes Ahead, Karina Little Light; brothers: Myron and Elias Goes Ahead; paternal Grandparents, Sarah (High Up) Bullshows and George Goes Ahead; maternal Grandparents Georgia Horse and Benjamin Cloud. Survivors include her son Brandon Covers Up; daughter Angela Cravens; adopted children: Keirsten Pretty Paint, Alvin Plainbull, Bryce and Kim Hugs Sr., Bud Mason, Elsworth (Brandy) Goes Ahead, Kari Covers Up and Emerine White Plume. Grandchildren: Sephra Brandalyn Covers-Up, Isaac and Isiah (Crystal) Goes Ahead, Cherith Little Light, Kaeten and Jaylin Pretty On Top, Sienna and Kyrie Gayton. Sisters: Wyma (Richard) Little Light, Natalie Little Owl, Beulah Goes Ahead, Mary Agnes (Todd) Volk, Sandra Rock Above, Charlene Laverdure, Rhea Goes Ahead, Marilyn (Jay) Simpson, Arbutus and Traci Covers Up, Shirleen and Ava Glenn. Brothers: Marlan “Spooky” (Thelma) Goes Ahead, Vincent JR (Abby) Goes Ahead, Duke (Ginger) Goes Ahead, Dana (Karen) Goes Ahead, Father Randolph Graczyk, Rich (Holly) Furber, Terrance Covers Up; Companion Hanks Rides Horse. Special friends: Doris Stewart, Jeremy Comin, Phil Shipley, Patty Kay Brien, Kirsten Decrane, Sarah Faith Stewart. Aunts: Agnes (Larry) Pretty Weasel, Regina Goes Ahead, Alice (Grady) Hunts Arrow and Joanne Rock Above. Nieces: Kathy, Regina, Marla (Conrad), Angel, Lorita (Brennan) Old Crow, Crystal (Brian), Jaden, Tawny Lynn (TJ) Reed, Jaime (Vince) Bad Bear, Mariah, Mykal (Kade); Nephews: Vincent Zachery (Meranda), George (Glendora), Willy (Talitha), Julian (Sonya) Goes Ahead, Nehemiah LittleLight. Karen took in Bryce III, Lazarus, Cimarron Hugs, Jason Kills Pretty Enemy, Ralphie TurnsPlenty, Marvin Woody Stewart, Kevin, Mike, Ron Buck Elk, Ray Champ and Jeremy Keo as her own. Extended families include: Spotted Bear, Cummins, Old Horn, Lionshows, Plainbull, Cloud, Stewart, Jefferson`, Wall, Big Hail, Turnsplenty, Decrane, Whiteman, Morrison, Rock Above, Plainfeather, Charges Strong, Smart Enemy, Baker, Hall, Foolishbear, Fox, and Wolf. We apologize in advance if we have missed any families or individuals. A vigil will be held on Friday, April 30th, at 6pm at Dahls Funeral Chapel in Billings, MT. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 1st, 11am at Dahl Funeral Chapel in Billings, MT. Burial will follow at Goes Ahead Family Cemetery in Pryor, MT.
