Obituary
All the flowers in Heaven got a little brighter on Saturday May 22nd as Doris LaGaly 83, peacefully joined her Husband Richard of 61 years following a courageous battle with a severe illness. Doris was born in 1938 in Sheridan, Montana to Robert and Katherine Glick. She grew up with three Brothers and one Sister and they all learned the value of hard work and honesty in the small town environment. The stories they all shared later in life with their children always seemed “larger than life” but we all suspected the stories were truly depicted. When Doris was in her late teens, she began working for the Mountain Bell Phone Company and that is when she was introduced to her future husband and Police Officer Richard LaGaly. Life progressed relatively quickly and soon they had a house on Yellowstone Ave, a young Son and a cool dog. The rest is pretty easy. A long and prosperous life with endless joy and great family times. Doris always had a passion for the outdoors and flowers. In her early 30's, she began a lifetime career planting, growing, marketing, and selling flowers and plants. She perfected her expertise while at Volly Gayvert's Greenhouse for many years, before joining Ernst Corporation as their Flower Specialist here in Billings. Doris took great pride on sharing her knowledge and skills with all customers who were determined to learn, and she also donated numerous hours to Billings businesses and professionals helping them design their dream gardens and displays. From March to October, Doris spent every moment of her career serving her customers and loved every minute of it. Along with making things beautiful for others Doris was always willing to show off her very own “spectacular” backyard. There always seemed to be room for “one more“ flower in the yard. Doris retired from the being “The Flower Lady” in her 60's, but still maintained her own yard and was always diligent in creating her best work each summer. Doris and Dick had a long happy life together and spent their later years enjoying their grandkids and their various activities. Doris is survived by son Art and his wife Deanna and grandchildren: Nolan, Tony, and Lonny. All of whom she loved very much and provided to them every quality aspect anyone could get from a Grandma. Doris is survived by her best friend and sister Gerda and husband Don Murray of Logan, Utah and her brother Dean and wife Darlene of Soldotna, Alaska. Doris was an aunt as well as a great aunt to numerous Nieces and Nephews. Doris is preceded in death by her late husband Richard, both of her parents, her brother Joe and his wife Dolly, and brother Denny. We want to thank the Staff, Doctors and Nurses of Billings Clinic for the kind and compassionate care for the last few weeks and the unbelievable support of many friends. Cremation has taken place and there will be no services at Doris' request. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.dahlfuneralchapel.com

Art & family, I'm so, so sorry for your loss. I can only imagine the amount of laughter and BS'ing happening from the Glick clan in Heaven right now! They all are so truly missed but those stories, and those laughs, will be forever in our hearts. ~~Lisa and family

What a beautiful light-hearted story about Grandma Doris! I want to say how sorry I am Art, Deanna, Nolan, Tony and Lonny, for the loss of your Mom and Grandma. I know this will leave a hole in your hearts, but I pray God will fill them with all the beautiful, fun, happy memories you have of her. I hope you all find comfort in this. God bless each of you! Love Tenley.

Doris was a beautiful human with an infectious smile. I worked with Doris at Ernst and loved to talk to her and learn about flowers and plants. I know how much she loved her grandkids. She will be missed but Dick will be so happy to welcome her to heaven. My condolences to Doris's family and friends. Teresa Wark Egelhoff

Very sorry to see this. I knew Doris from Volly Gayvert's. She had a great smile, and a great sense of humor. She would cringe when she saw me. She said that whenever she saw me, she knew it was to buy a replacement for another plant I had killed. I left Montana 32 years ago, but I've never forgotten Doris, the laugh and the numerous plants that went to their maker at my hands. She would say that she felt so guilty selling me anything, but she would laugh and do it anyway. - Tom Cockrell

Every summer I think of this wonderful woman as I work on my potted petunias. Many years ago, she took the time to show me how to keep them blooming full and beautiful all season long. Doris was much like like the flowers she loved--full of life, colorful and sweet. How she will be missed. She may not be here with us, but her legacy lives on in the gardens of so many who were fortunate enough to have Doris in their world. Love and blessings to you all. Sincerely, Terra Jochems

Dear Art, I am so sorry your mom has passed away. I remember her from her Volly Gayverts days. We used to always go to their xmas open house. She was always there and greeted everyone so warmly. She really was our go to person for plants. As a young girl, I thought she was a really cool adult. I know she will be greatly missed in your family. Sending you my deepest sympathies. Jill Blackford
