Obituary

Jacelynn Celest Big Day, Chilaakkussakshbalaxe—“Sings To The Morning”, was born in Billings, MT to Jace & Tammy Big Day (Father) & Kathy Don't Mix (Mother). She was later adopted by her aunt and uncle Heywood Jr. and Veronica Big Day. Her grandparents Heywood Sr. and Mary Lou Big Day were a big part of her upbringing, and through them she learned what it meant to be a young Crow Indian lady. Jacelynn was raised amongst her family in Pryor, where she always called home. She shared part of this life with her children Lyric Big Day, Franklin, Zephrah, and Michael Jr. Peltzer. Jacelynn was a great granddaughter, granddaughter, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, mother, and a true friend. Her laughter and smile would touch everyone that surrounded her, even strangers. She was not just a few things in life, she was everything. She was not a shy girl with her thoughts and feelings and would say what was on her mind. She was a wild child but yet was mature beyond belief, and mature when need be. She had her blonde moments of not knowing something basic, but yet was at the top of her class in school. She would be mad at someone, but would still love and forgive that person, ‘cause she had a heart of gold. She was a Crow dancer with pride, and she would dance to non-native music wherever good music played, even in the middle of a street. She would stand up and beat people up that treated her family wrong, but yet she had a sensitive heart and would cry. She was a traditionalist that took pride in being a Crow woman, and most importantly, a part of her family. She cooked, cleaned, mechanic, baby sit, garden, and she'd take things apart to fix even though she didn't know what she was doing. She truly tried doing everything and anything in her life. She was a survivor no matter what life put her in, and she taught others those same survival skills. But most of all, she laughed and smiled all the time, and always reminded everyone that they were loved by her. Jacelynn's love was beyond belief. She would know when people would be angry, disappointed, or irritated by her, but yet she stood firmly and would say "I know your mad at me. But I still love you, and I know you will always love and care about me too." And as hard as it was to admit, she was right. Words can not explain the love that people had for her, and the love and care she gave back. She would cling onto people, begin to talk nonstop even if they didn't want to listen, and at the end of it all, they wouldn't want her to leave their side. Even when she would tease someone like no other person would ever dare, that person would not want her to leave. Maybe it was because that energy of love and care that shined inside and out that made her the young lady she was. Truly a person like no other. It is hard to let go of someone so pure of love, and allow her to go to the Other Camp. But she will be greeted with love and care, by those same loving people who have passed into the next life. She will continue to dance, laugh, sing, play, and joke around as she always has with her nieces, nephews, and other family members. Jacelynn may not be here physically with us, but she is here in spirit. And everyone that got to be with her will always remember her teachings of love, care, sharing, and surviving in this thing we call life. That is how her spirit will continue to live within us all. She will forever be remembered, into the next generations that are still come into this world. Jocelynn is survived by many family members and friends, too numerous to name here. Thank you for your love and support of our beloved Jocelynn. I'm so sorry you are suffering this tragedy; nothing like this was ever intended for the human family. I hope that you might gain some comfort from the words of Job 14:15, which promises that our loved ones who are resting can one day be united with us.
