Obituary

Hilda Frances Frank (née Sigl)

July 4, 1934 – September 26, 2026

Hilda Frances Frank (née Sigl) passed away peacefully at the age of 92 to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nick V. Frank, who passed away 25 years earlier, as well as all of her siblings.

Hilda was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who spent her life caring for those around her. She was born on July 4, 1934, in Glen Ullin, North Dakota, to Peter and Sophia Sigl. She grew up on the family farm near Richardton, North Dakota, and moved to Billings, Montana, after marrying Nick on October 21, 1954.

The pride and joy of Hilda's life were her seven children, numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A lifelong parishioner of St. Pius X Catholic Church, one of her greatest joys was seeing her children and grandchildren attend Mass with her and fill an entire church pew. With a smile and unmistakable pride, she would often say, “These are all mine.”

Hilda loved dancing, especially the German polka. When she and Nick danced together, they naturally drew the attention of others, and she seemed to float effortlessly across the floor. She was also a talented seamstress and spent many years tailoring suits at Monarch Clothing Store.

Preparing food was one of Hilda's love languages, and she found great joy in feeding her family and others. An exceptional cook, she cherished bringing family together around the table. As a certified food handler, she worked in the kitchen at St. Francis Intermediate School, where she was affectionately known as the lunch lady. She often “doctored up” recipes with herbs and spices to make them tastier for the children. Whether through cooking, serving, or caregiving, Hilda's life was marked by generosity, kindness, and a servant's heart.

She is survived by her seven children: Robert; Daniel (Lori); Brenda; Thomas (Cathy Jo); Lori (Jeff); Brian (Rebecca); and Michelle (Curtis).

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Michael (Kori), Tyler (Brittany), Cole, Jessica (Casey), Mackenzie, Mitchell, James, Audrey, Rockwood, and Keith; and her great-grandchildren: Bridger, Marlie, Cathrynn, Reed, Rory, Theodore, and Lincoln.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the staff and caregivers at TenderNest Memory Care and Stillwater Hospice. Your compassion, dedication, and exceptional care, especially during Hilda's final days, were truly a blessing.
