Charlene Laverdure

On September 2, 2021 our Sister, Mother, Aunty, Grandmother danced into heaven greeted by family rejoicing in their heavenly reunion. Charlene Mae (Turns Plenty) Laverdure was born February 16, 1943 to Ralph and Rose (DeCrane) Turns Plenty. During her childhood she was raised by Joe and Blanche Turns Back. Shortly after George and Sarah Goes Ahead brought her home and raised her. All throughout her upbringing she remained in close contact with her siblings. Charlene married Donald E. Laverdure Sr. who was the love of her life as she never remarried. From this union they were blessed with Vance, LaDonna, Justin, Ralph (Dagwood), and Belle. She was a hard worker and maintained steady employment. She had a strong work ethic. She held various positions working for the BIA, IHS, St. Charles Mission, Pryor Public School and Plenty Coups High School. She also worked for 2 of the Tribal Chairmans and loved politics. She was instrumental in the Bible Translation Program along with Dorothy Spotted Bear, the deceased: Hughe Matthews, Oakie and Dallas Hugs, Larry Plain Bull, Joe Bear Claw, David and Chester Turns Plenty. Charlene is loved by all. Her passion in life was to inspire all to turn to The Lord. She was a source of constant encouragement and guidance for us all. "You need to just pray and read your bible!" She was more than 'Aunty' to all her nieces and nephews, she was a second mother. A Pure Loving Mother's Heart. She had a special way of making everyone feel special, especially their birthdays. She remembered everyone's special day making them her signature cake. Her home was open and she welcomed all who entered. Charlene was a devout Plenty Coups Warrior fan and a Neil Diamond fan. She had so many special friends throughout her life, too many to name. We apologize.
