Charles Wall

Charles Jeffery Wall, 69 years old of Billings, MT, went to the other side camp on September 14, 2021. Charles was born on January 9, 1952 in Crow Agency and was a member of the Big Lodge Clan and a child of the Whistling Water Clan. He was the fourth and youngest son of the late William and Alma (Small) Wall. Pryor was home for Charles until the death of his mother, at the age of 13, and subsequently he was taken in and raised by Isabelle (Hill) Medicine Horse, in Crow Agency. Charles received his education at St. Charles Mission in Pryor, MT, Flandreau Indian School in South Dakota, and Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas. In high school, Charles naturally gravitated towards and found his passion for music while playing in the high school band. Music remained an integral part of his life and his enjoyment for music and ability to play numerous musical instruments, eventually lead him to become a music teacher at Plenty Coups High School. In addition to teaching music, Charles worked in various occupations including working as an AA counselor, in environmental services for Conoco Refinery, and he even dabbled in the movie industry, as an extra, in “Sun of the Morning Star”. Charles continued teaching music throughout his life and he often played the drums for the church, when the opportunity presented. Charles was predominantly artistic in nature and was a gifted drawer. He made jewelry and was a talented maker of fans. Charles was often sought out to make fans for people, but what he particularly enjoyed and took pride in was making and bestowing fans to his grandchildren for their traditional regalia. In his past time he enjoyed Bingo and going to the Casino. He was an avid Plenty Coups Warrior's fan and was especially proud when he was able to watch one of his grandchildren or relatives play. He enjoyed spending time with his family, children and grandchildren and always looked forward to the holidays and family gatherings. Charles is preceded in death by his parents, son Shawn Jeffery Wall, daughter Pauline Wall, brothers; Tommy, Arthur, Billy Wall, and Carty Goes Ahead, sisters; Gloria Goes Ahead Cummins and Norma Wall. Nephews; Lyndon “Indian” Charles Wall, Arthur “Barry” Wall, and niece Michelle Cummins Driftwood. He is survived by his partner of 10 years, Melanie Big Day, daughters; Anna Mae (Ken) Kirk, Alice Wall, Christina (Herman) Wall-Spencer, Fawn (Michael) Welker, Constance Oldman, and Naveah Wall, sons; Brandon Wall and Crow Chief Thunder. Sisters; Josephine, Almira and Mary W. Wall. Nephews; Antone (Alanya) Lopez, Jeremy Keo, Barney, Leroy, George (Julie) Cummins, Duke and Dana Goes Ahead, Robert (Roberta) and Marvin(Alberta) Wall, Nieces; Bernadine (Gordon) Real Bird, Alda Good Luck, Polly (Manuel) Chase, Rhea Goes Ahead, Marilyn Simpson, Alma Rose Costa, Brenda (Weston) Bad Bear, Mary Allison Morning Gun, and Mariah Small Bear.
