Obituary

David William Jull, born June 13,1959 to William and Marion Jull, died Wednesday, October 13, 2021 surrounded by his loving wife and children. Dave grew up in Billings attending Central Heights Elementary School, Lewis and Clark Middle School, and West High. While attending Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana he met the love of his life, Christina (Tina) Christensen. They were married in August 1981 after Dave completed a Bachelor's degree in Earth Science. Dave and Tina then started their life adventure in Texas where Dave worked in the oil and gas industry. In 1986, Dave and Tina moved to the Powell and Cody area of Wyoming where Dave continued to work in the oil field while Tina taught Elementary School. It was in Cody that Dave acquired a private pilot's license. He and Tina made several trips to Texas, California, Arizona and Colorado in their Piper Cherokee plane. In 1990, Dave and Tina started the next chapter of their life in Denver, Colorado. They were blessed with three children, Benjamin, Kelsey and Preston. It was also in Colorado that Dave, with the help of John Patterson and Tim Daley, started their own oil and gas service company, Phoenix Surveys. The company was very successful for over ten years. In 2000, Dave decided to go off on his own with the oil and gas service company in Price, Utah. At which time they built a home for their family in Grand Junction, Colorado. It was in Grand Junction their children attended school K-12 and graduated from Grand Junction High School. Throughout those years the family enjoyed travels to Florida, Hawaii, Washington DC and Mexico. They spent many weekends in Denver and Park City, Utah watching competitive sports that their children participated in. Their sports led the family to travel as far as Seattle, Washington and Waco, Texas to watch Little League baseball and softball. After the children had all gone off to college, Dave and Tina decided to move from their home in Grand Junction to the Denver area. Dave managed and was part owner of a machine shop that manufactured products for the oil and gas industry. At that time, Dave and Tina began raising their grandson Skylar who brought a lot of joy to their life. Upon retirement from the oil and gas industry in 2017, Dave and Tina returned back to their hometown of Billings, Montana. Dave embarked on his new adventure of establishing a RV storage business and managed it for the past few years. In September of 2021, Dave was made aware he had kidney cancer and it was pretty advanced by the time it was found. Dave spent his final weeks around his wife, children and siblings until he passed peacefully at home. Dave will be remembered for his gift and ability to connect with people. He could make a friend out of a stranger and was known for his passion with politics, aviation and talk radio. He was his children's number one supporter when it came to their sports or their careers investing himself in all that they were involved in. Dave is preceded in death by his father and mother William (Bill) and Marion Jull and brother-in-law Tom Christensen. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Christina (Christensen) Jull and three children Ben and Abriel (Rugloski) Jull (Lake Ozark, MO), Kelsey and Brittany (Whittington) Jull (Vancouver, WA) and Preston and Emily (Pittsinger) Jull (Johnstown, CO) his four grandchildren Skylar Davis (Billings), Serenity, Ava and Aiden (Lake Ozark, MO). He is also survived by his three siblings, Cathy McKeever Jull (Gilbert, AZ) Eric Jull (Maricopa, AZ) and Tom and Karen (Hardy) Jull (Chandler, AZ) along with several nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will take place Thursday, December 30th at the park on 2313 W Spruce Dr Chandler, AZ at noon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Riverstone Hospice at 123 South 27th Street, Billings, MT 59101.

One memory I have of my dad is that him and my Uncle Tom brought my truck out to California when I was in the marines. We were sitting at a restaurant on the water and an earthquake hit everyone else ran and we just sat there. The waiter then came out after and said didn’t you feel that we said no and then he said well at least it didnt knock my beer over lol good memories. I love and miss you dad.

Oh so many memories it is hard to just talk about a few: My dad was the absolute best about taking us out for a treat. After softball practice he would rarely say no to a trip to sonic and allow me to splurge on a strawberry cream slush. We would have the best conversations in the drive in as we would enjoy our treat and promise we wouldn’t let mom know. One birthday my dad and I were in Denver without mom for a softball tournament. It was well known that my dad wasn’t the best at planning a birthday celebration so my bar of expectations was pretty low. He was so concerned about making the dad special. After he left for a few hours, he told me to come to the hotel lobby and there he had balloons, cake and all of my friends there waiting for me to celebrate. Although it might seem basic, it is one of my favorite birthdays to this day. It was the thought and effort my Dad put in that made it so special. I was an avid Rockies fan when I was younger and there were times just my dad and I would go to a game. I was 4 or 5 and the game we attended rain dumped on us. Instead of leaving and going home, we threw some ponchos on and sat in the rain to see the rest of the game. I think the whole stadium was empty but we sat and enjoyed it and my dad was there keeping me warm. The fact I can remember this vividly to this day shows how much those small moments with my dad meant to me. Dad- you will be forever missed. I will always cherish our memories together and will continue to chat with you daily. Even though I may not hear your response, I will know exactly what you would say ❤️. I love you, Dad.

My big brother was 9 years my senior, so my childhood memories of him are limited. I remember admiring his sense of adventure. In addition to being a pilot, he bought a hang-glider and did that for a time. As I recall, he did that until he crashed and broke one or more bones. One of the clear memories I have is related to this photo. Dave and his friends went on a bike trip down the Beartooth Highway. I remember Mom being so afraid of him crashing on a switchback or getting hit by a car. I don't understand why. You can see the safety gear they had on. I am sure Dave (right) would have been well protected by that t-shirt and those 70s jean cut-offs! Where was Child Protective Services, for heaven's sake?! Will miss you, big brother. Along with Mom, Dad, Snoopy (in the window) and 2105 Concord Dr.
