Maisie Meyer

Maisie Cecilia (Trecker) Meyer was born on January 2, 1935, in Jamestown, ND to John Michael Jr. and Luella Elizabeth (Blakely) Trecker. Maisie was welcomed into heaven October 20, 2021, surrounded by family at Riverstone Health Hospice home in Billings, MT. Maisie grew up on a wheat farm near Melville, ND. She learned to play the piano from her mother and was most grateful for a love of reading and music that was instilled in her at a very young age. She also enjoyed roller and ice skating and playing tennis. Maisie graduated high school from St John's Academy located in Jamestown, ND in May of 1952. She received her teaching certificate later that year and taught at various locations over the next 10 years: Stutsman County Country School; Millville, ND; Williston, ND; Tuscan, AZ; and Jamestown, ND. Maisie went on to obtain her Bachelor of Science's degree in Teaching and Social Studies in 1963 from Minot State University, in Minot, ND and then taught in Miles City, MT for a year before venturing on to Great Falls, MT, were she taught until December 1965. She then married and moved to Geyser, MT to begin her next adventure. Maisie married Kenneth Meyer December 30, 1965, in Buchanan, North Dakota. With this union came 6 children whom she loved unconditionally. This marriage was blessed with two more children. Maisie enjoyed tending to her flower gardens and took pride in the peonies she had transplanted from her family farm in North Dakota. She loved the solitude and beautiful views of the ranch in Geyser, Montana, and also had a love for all kinds of sports. She especially enjoyed supporting her children and grandchildren at their sporting and extracurricular events. This love for sports was best captivated during March Madness, where you would find her glued to the TV watching every game and cheering on her favorite team Duke. Maisie never lost her heart for teaching and taught in the special education department at Geyser for several years. She was also an active member of St. Cyril's Catholic Church in Geyser and most recently a member of St Thomas in Billings where she had been residing for the past 4 years. Her faith was such an important part of her life and carried her through life's challenges. She had a tender heart, prayed often for others, and always showed kindness and mercy toward everyone. Maisie is survived by her children; daughter's Lynn and husband Harvey Thompson, of Geyser, Lois Rawlings of Antioch, CA, Lou Ann and husband Randy Hubert of Tracy, CA, Laura and husband Kerry Larson of Billings, Loretta and husband Rob Lowe of Billings, son's Leonard Meyer of Billings, and Lee Meyer of Great Falls; brother's Bob Trecker of Cataldo, ID and Bill Trecker of Jamestown, ND; sister Sister Bernadette Trecker of Fargo, ND; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Luella Trecker; her husband, Kenneth Meyer; her son Larry Meyer; brother John Trecker, and sister Dorothy (Trecker) Szarkowski. Son Leonard's recent words are an appropriate conclusion to a life well lived! So we all say Goodbye to an a-Mais-ing woman. One who stepped in when needed and stayed in the game till the end. A good mom to the ‘motherless' and a mother of 2 more. A remarkable lady who signed up for a job that would seem impossible….unimaginable….inconceivable, and possibly even ridiculous. Doing her best in all situations with many trials and tribulations and no handbook. Thank you and good rest unto you.
