Obituary
Rita Burpo, the beloved wife of Mark Burpo, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 25, 2021. Rita was born in Castelsardo, Sardinia Italy on March 12, 1956. She met Mark in November of 1987, one year after he arrived in Italy for duty. They were married on January 18th, 1990. They celebrated their 31st anniversary this year. Rita loved Mark and took great joy in being his loving, devoted, and supportive wife; a true helpmate in the Lord. Rita accepted the Lord in 1987 after receiving her first bible. In her words, “The bible spoke of this man named Jesus whom I never knew. I soon fell in love with HIM and trusted HIM as my Savior”. Rita began to grow in the LORD under the ministry of Pastor Chris Parker of Bethel Baptist Church in Rota, Spain. Both Rita and Mark were blessed by the loving ministry of Pastor Parker and his wife Junior. While Mark was still in the Navy, Rita was a busy military wife. She diligently supported Mark and moved with Mark wherever his job took them during his military career. Wherever they moved to, the first connection they always made was to find a good local church to attend. They arrived in Billings on March 10th and are now members of Bible Baptist Church. Rita loved the Lord and loved serving the Lord in her local church. She had many gifts and talents and she used them to serve the Lord faithfully. She spoke five languages and helped out with any translator work whenever needed. She was always cheerful with a wonderful Christian testimony. She was a soul winner, prayer warrior, encourager, and a wonderful sister in Christ to all who knew her. She and Mark loved to look after visiting missionaries, evangelists and visitors to their church. Through the years, she has worked in many areas of the church ministry, from the church office to the nursery, ladies and missionary ministries, and childrens ministries. She was an Italian that loved to cook delicious Italian dishes for her guests, special church events, and for those in need. We shall miss our dear sister in Christ. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband Mark and relatives; sisters: Gavina Marcellino, Anna Marcellino and Erminia Marcellino; brothers: Francesco and Mario in Italy; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mark and family: Such a beautiful tribute to Rita's life through the written obituary and video. I did not have the good fortune of knowing Rita so appreciate you sharing all the lovely memories. Dear Mark-our hearts are heavy and our prayers are with you. Rita will always be in our hearts and memories. She was a beautiful soul and we all are so blessed to have known her and you. Rita will forever be remembered as a devoted wife and faithful friend. Our consolation is in Jesus and knowing that we will be together again one day with our Savior. Rita glorified God daily . Spending every possible moment with Bro.Mark; cheerfully giving herself to God's work:studying His Word; expertise help in languages;welcoming church family into their home ; bright laughter; listening&yet positively reassuring her sisters -in-Christ; taking time to visit older homebound; thankful in everything; never complaining @ health issues limiting-(she secretly "worked in" a nap to keep going); her interest in local birds& plants as they moved ;& yes-her bond with"their"cats.....she faithfully prayed for Bro Mark's &her families.
