Douglas Elvbakken

Beloved son, brother, and treasured friend. Doug was born the 3rd child of Lorraine Inez and Herman Earl Hampton December 9th 1962 in Deaconess Hospital in Billings. Raised in Laurel and Lockwood. Doug attended Lockwood schools and graduated from Billings Senior High School in 1983. Just like the song says he did it his way! At 4 years old, built like a Green bay lineman, and living in Laurel, a scottish terrier bit all the neighborhood kids. One morning it bit Doug. He picked up that terrier like a slice of watermelon and bit the dog on the back and dropped it. It never bit anyone again. Doug was a live wire and never knew a stranger. After graduating Billings Senior, Doug worked various job opportunities in the Billings area, including construction and Midland Packing. Doug married Brenda Modick in Billings in 1986. He attended Devry University in Tempe, Arizona earning a degree in electronics. Soon after he was offered a job with Boeing in Seattle. In Lynnwood, Doug and Brenda were blessed with son Garth. They returned to Billings. Doug and Brenda divorced in 1996. Doug was techie and well suited to the electronics field. He grew bored with electronics and began driving truck. Doug drove for several companies over the years. Coast to coast, long haul. Several years ago he slipped and fell on the ladder of a tank truck, causing a chronic neck injury. After extensive recovery, he took a job in the Bakken oil field, exacerbating and reinjuring his neck. At this point he was medically retired. Doug owned a Goldwing and enjoyed touring. He was predeceased by his parents Joe and Lorraine Elvbakken. Doug is survived by His son Garth Spokane,Wa. Brothers: Blane, {Rhonda} Kennewick,wa, Matthew, {Anita} Helena,Mt, Bryon Helena,Mt. Three grandchildren, 4 neices and 2 nephews, and his precious dog Teddy Bear. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Faith Chapel Friday November 12th at 11 am with a celebration of life and sharing to follow at the Longbranch 2131 West Arrow Creek road Ballentine, MT at 1 pm.
