Obituary
Aserlener Landaverde was born October 31, 1945, to Charles Dorsey and Annie Bell Marcus in Richmond, California. She had three brothers and five sisters. She attended high school in Berkeley California. Aserlener was a good student and was active in sports. Due to her friendly nature, she had many friends. Aserlener helped her mom at home with the housework, which she claimed, “kept her out of trouble.”
After graduation Aserlener moved to Billings, Montana and was employed at the Billings Gazette. She soon met her beloved husband, Juventino, and together they opened a 50-60's diner/drive-in called The Hop. Aserlener had a big heart and would open her home to many people. Her younger sister Ruth and nephew Jesse lived with her for a short time, as well as other nieces and nephews throughout the years. After her husband's death, she came to help and live part time with Colie and Sandra Hamilton and children: Josiah, Joshua, Candace, Joel, and Rachel. She quickly became one of the family and called them, “her children.”
Aserlener passed away peacefully on January 14th, 2022, at Riverstone Hospice after a short battle with cancer. She had a steadfast faith in Jesus as her savior and would often just smile and say how happy she was when she knew she had but a short time and would soon be with Juventino in heaven. She enjoyed visits on the phone with her sisters Lavella and Flo and her dear friend Myra.
Aserlener is survived by her sisters Lavella Marcus and Florzine Brown of California and their families, nephew Jesse Jackson and family of Arizona, many other nieces and nephews close to her heart, sister-in-law Laura Landaverde and family of New Mexico, dear friend Myra Trustee, and Colie and Sandra Hamilton and family of Billings.
Aserlener was preceded in death by her beloved husband: Juventino, parents: Charles Dorsey and Annie Bell Marcus, sisters: Rosetta, Estella, and Ruth, brothers: Jerry, Mark, and Roy, brother-in-law: Serafin Landaverde, and “her baby” Rachel. A graveside service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Billings on Friday, January 21, 2022 at 1:00pm. Memorials in Aserlener's name may be made to Help for Homeless Pets of Billings.

I worked for Aserlener in the 90s at a little restaurant called the Hop! She's an amazing human and was always very kind. Rest easy lady and be in heaven with the lord and your loved ones! Blessed be! Amen.
