Arthur Brownell

Art passed away Saturday, October 24, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 20, 1934 to Arthur and Ruby Brownell in Glendive, Montana. In 1952 he graduated from Dawson County High School and attended Dawson County Community College for two years. Art started working at the age of 15 as a freight handler at the Northern Pacific Railyard in Glendive. He continued working for the railroad until retirement. He was the 3rd generation Brownell working for the NP/BN Railroads with a total of 130 years. Art retired August 1991 with 41 of those years. In 1957 he married Shirley Kemble and they had 4 children. In 1971 Art volunteered to coach his son Craig's football team, which led them to the city championship in Billings Central Park Little Guy Football League. Art married Cassandra (Sandy) Evans May 30, 1987 in Las Vegas. After returning to Billings Art joined Golden K Kiwanis in 2002. He served as club president in 2006. He was also a member of the Masons for 60 years. Art was preceded in death by his parents; brother Claremont; sisters Zola Mae and Sheila Rae. He is survived by his loving wife Sandy, his children Craig (Susan) Brownell, Stacy (Tracy) Bertrand, Brad Brownell, Stephanie Nance; three grandchildren Stuart and Carson Bertrand, Kelsey Brownell; one great-grandson Jace Brownell. Art never met an ice cream cone, Blizzard or Frosty that he didn't like. Enjoy all the ice cream in Heaven! Your ticket has been punched, enjoy the ride!
