Rose Silvernagel

Rose Mary Eberle was born on September 4, 1934, on a small farm near Zeeland, North Dakota. She was the second of ten children.

On June 18, 1956, she married the love of her life, the man she would be married to almost 70 years - Kenneth Silvernagel. Ken and Rose were blessed with five children: Mike Silvernagel (LeAnn), Carol Wigen (Jon), Sharon Olmstead (Paul), Becky Jones (Jerry) and Kevin Silvernagel (Amy), 16 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

 Rose was raised on a farm near Hague, ND.   After they married, they lived in Ashley, ND before moving to Fargo, where Ken finished school.  Ken’s new job moved them to Bismarck, where they lived for 18 years before he was transferred to Billings where they eventually retired after a short stint in Denver.

Family was everything to Rose and she was happiest when she was surrounded by her kids and grandkids and was an extraordinarily positive person.

Rose’s family would like to thank all the people who made her life so special — from the wonderful neighbors on Wentworth Drive to the caring staff at Butterfly Homes, who helped care for her, and supported all of us.

And as we say goodbye to this beloved wife, mom and grandma, we do so with heavy hearts, but also with deep gratitude. Rose’s life was one of love, faith, family, and quiet strength. 

Funeral Mass will be on February 17, 2026, at 11am, at St. Bernards Catholic Church, Billings, MT.  

A Mass for Rose Silvernagel will be held at St. Peter and Paul’s Church in Strasburg, ND on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 10 am.

The Burial will follow Mass at Strasburg cemetery.
