Timothy Craig

August 22, 1960 - May 26, 2022

Obituary

Tim Craig was abruptly taken from us on May 26, 2022, while riding his motorcycle near his home in Shepherd. He has left behind a trail of tears as wide as the Yellowstone River and the incomprehensible reality that he will no longer be in our lives. Born in Billings on August 22, 1960, to Albert "John" Craig and Sioux Ellen O'Connell, Tim was the seventh of nine colorful and adventurous siblings, determined to show more color and be more adventurous than the rest. The Craig Irish/Scottish and American Indian heritage and spiritual upbringing very much shaped his every move through a life that could define him. Tim's childhood experience, with his siblings, made a script for a hit TV series or should have. Mastering mechanical acuity, his character was articulate, reassured, and handsome with a magnetic personality. The Craig story episodes overlapped and were out of sequence and relied heavily on audience participation on a world stage. Graduating from Billings Senior in 1978, Tim seamlessly flowed in and through auto shop work, the oil patch, bartender gigs, a coal mine or two, and spent time as an involuntary guest in the big house. By far, his 2 favorite ways to spend time were learning how to be a dad, always hoping to be a good dad, and piloting his Harley as a member of the Roaddogs Motorcycle Club. Throughout his adult life, kids were drawn to Tim's safe and fun heart. Learning some daddy skills, Tim's pride shines bright in Dakota, his amazing son. That same heart has helped guide one of the shining stars of Billings, the Annual Roaddogs Toy Drive. We will forever thank Tim for inspiring and doing what was necessary for it to become a success. Tim is preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Linda and Annie; brothers: Randy, Larry, Pat, and Don; his nephew Allen; and Dakota's little sister China Morris. He is survived by his son: Dakota; Dakota's siblings: Asia and Landon; his brothers Mike and John; and, quite literally, by almost everyone who was close to him. Tim's Celebration of Life will be at 4 pm, Monday, June 6, 2022, at Dahl Funeral Chapel. A reception will be held at Dahl's following the service. A wake will follow at approximately 6 pm at Andy's Bar, 1815 1st Avenue North, which will be providing some food and hosting a potluck. Rather than flowers, we encourage memorial donations to a charity of your choice or to a pickle jar at Andy's to help defray the costs of the event.
