Obituary
Robert Eugene Ullom was born on January 11, 1943, in Winchester, IN to Walter R. Ullom and Evelyn Waite Ullom. He earned a Bachelor's and Master's degree from Purdue University. Robert proudly served in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Captain. Bob met the love of his life, Emma Lee Bernstein, in July of 1971. On December 19, 2021, they celebrated 50 years of marriage. What a ride it was! Together they raised four children: Bob, Bill, LaDonna, and Mistie Ullom. Upon leaving the Army, he began his agricultural career at Dow Chemical.
Bob continued his career at Wilbur Ellis company where he dedicated 32 “very vocal” years. He retired as the Billings, MT Branch Manager in 2010. Upon retirement, Bob and Lee spent 10 years traveling, making memories with several special friends they had met along the way. He enjoyed traveling and spending many weekends with his family camping in the mountains of Montana and Wyoming, which always included unlimited hours of Bob stringing tarps with several yards of twine to ensure everyone would stay dry and have a protected place to gather as a family.
Gardening and yard work were also passions of Bob. Dedicating many hours, he created their very own oasis directly in their backyard. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Bob passed away peacefully, at home, with Lee and loved ones at his side, on July 1, 2022.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother Maude Waite, his parents Walter and Evelyn Ullom, his brother George A. Ullom, and his two sons Bobby Lee and Billy Jo Ullom. He is survived by his wife Emma Lee Ullom, his sister Sue Hinshaw (Keith), and his daughters LaDonna Weis (Rich) and Mistie Ecklund (Scott). He was blessed with many grandchildren: Brock Ullom (Anna), Bryce Ullom (Morgan), Billy J. Ullom, Theodore J. Ullom (Rachel), Zack Ullom (Amanda), Christopher Ullom, Jacqui Morin (JJ), Selina Schmidt (T.J.), and Morgan Ecklund. He was also blessed with 11 great-grandchildren.
His family wants to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and support, during his time of illness and now as we grieve his loss. Graveside services will be held at Yellowstone National Cemetery, Friday 7/8 at 2:00pm. Memorials may be made to Big Sky Senior Services at 935 Lake Elmo Drive Ste. B, Billings, MT 59105.
Our hearts are happy knowing Bob will continue to stir the bucket with his words of wisdom and strong opinions in Heaven.

Bob graduated 2 years ahead of me in high school. My freshman year at Purdue, I rode home with him and a carload of others doe Thanksgiving. He was a friendly, GOOD guy. Always seemed to have a smile. I am good friends with the Hinshaw's since we were in the same HS class in Winchester. I haven't seen Bob in many years. I was saddened when I heard of his loss. I’m so sorry, Lee. I have fond memories of traveling with the A-Team and their wives. I always knew and always appreciated that when Bob Ullom was there with us, I’d get to eat lunch that day! We also shared a love for Crème Brûlée and if Bob said it was good at the place we were at, then I knew I had to have it. Oh Bob Ullom, you will be a great addition to Heaven. I’m so grateful you are pain free and comfortable now.
