Clarence Goll

Clarence "Clancy" Wilhelm Goll passed away July 14, 2022, after a long battle with cancer, at home in Marjorie's arms and with loving family at his side. He was born on January 25, 1928, in Martin, ND. He and his mother, Adeline, traveled by train to Chapman, MT to be with his father, Henry. Clancy grew up on the homestead and attended Sunny Slope School. Later the family moved to a farm north of Turner, MT. Clancy left the farm at about age 15 and worked for the railroad. He married his first wife, Donna Warren, on February 14, 1950, and they moved to Havre where they raised 4 boys. He and Donna were baptized into Christ and attended 6th Avenue Christian Church. Clancy supported his family with several different jobs, including hauling milk and cream between Havre and Wolf Point, managing the Chevron Station in Havre, and working at the Vitarich Dairy. They moved to Shelby, and Clancy purchased the Chevron station on Main Street. He then became an equipment operator with the IBEW, and they moved to Great Falls. They moved to Billings in the mid-1970s retired there after 57 years with the IBEW. Not being one to sit idle, Clancy became a farm hand working for Larry Steiger farms for ten years, driving the newer kind of tractors. He loved every minute of it (up at 4:30 am and home after dark). Donna passed away on May 22, 1987. Clancy married Marjorie Duke on June 9, 1989, and added a son and daughter to their family. They spent the next 35 years in Billings, traveling to many funerals, weddings, birthday celebrations, graduations, antique car shows and auctions, Branson, Route 66, and the Grand Canyon with stops in between. Clancy drug his feet all the way to Disneyland but had the greatest time taking grandson David on all the scariest rides. He got to see the ocean for the first time. He loved to fish and hunt, work on old cars and visit with people. He was passionate about the IBEW and the Roaring 20's Antique Car Club. He thoroughly loved and enjoyed his family, especially the grand- and great-grandchildren. Having great-grandson Caleb live with us for a few years brought us both much joy and love. Clancy was predeceased by his parents; wife Donna; brothers Clifford "Digger" and Bill; sons Kenneth and Randy; sister Carol; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends. He is survived by wife Marjorie; sons Larry (Barb), Dennis (Trula); sister Goldie Siemens; step-son Chris Snedeker (Cheryl); step-daughter Michelle Davis; 12 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and three who were loved along with the others; 20 great-grandchildren and an enormous group of friends and relatives. He will be greatly missed!! Celebration of Clancy's life will be held Saturday July 23, 2022, at 10:30 am, at 48th Street Christian Church, 48th Street and Central Avenue, Billings MT. After the service there will be a motorcade to IBEW Union Hall 5200 Midland Road, Billings, for a Luncheon Reception.
