Kathy Jones
April 25, 1952 - July 22, 2022
Obituary
Kathy Lynne Jones was carried into the presence of Jesus on Friday, July 22, 2022. She was born April 25, 1952 in Billings, MT. She was one of four children born to Pastor Kent and Joanne Swift. Her early life was spent in various towns where her dad pastored before the family settled in Glendive, where she attended school and graduated in 1970.
Shortly afterwards her family moved to Billings, where she met and married Jim Jones on April 17, 1972. They enjoyed five decades together and were blessed with seven children: Rebekah, Rachel, Josiah, Tim, Josh, Mike, and Steve.
Kathy committed her heart to Jesus at five years old and never strayed. She was a bold witness for Christ and was always active in some form of ministry. She served in street ministry and as a Sunday school teacher, and worked alongside her husband both in running New Hope Outreach Drug and Alcohol Center and as a pastor's wife at Full Gospel Revival Tabernacle in Billings and Lighthouse Church of God of Prophecy in Laurel. She wrote letters of encouragement to prisoners, visited and witnessed to many in nursing and retirement homes, and spent years playing piano and singing for services. She was faithful to serve whomever God put in her path. Her home was always open to people in need of support or somewhere to stay, and there were always “extras” living with the family.
Kathy was an excellent host and cook, especially noted for her pork chops and ability to feed a crowd. She loved celebrations and family events, bright colors, good food, loudly cheering on her kids and grandkids from the stands, and playing a competitive game of Skip-Bo. Her childlikeness and warmth made her easy to talk to. She was a loving, caring person who shared her life with others willingly. She followed Christ unwaveringly through a lifetime dedicated to prayer, service, hospitality, and ministry. There is no doubt that she has now heard, “Well done, good and faithful servant."
She is survived by her husband of 50 years; daughters Rebekah (Tom) Yarnell and Rachel Jones; sons Josiah (Jenn) Jones, Timothy (Leah) Jones, Joshua (Jenna) Jones, Michael (Jen) Jones, and Steven (Ashley) Jones; 23 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; one brother Tom Swift, and various extended family.
Those preceding her in death include her parents Kent and Joanne Swift and two sisters; Nancy Swift and Linda Krieger.
The family would like to extend special recognition and thanks to Kathy's very dear friend Margaret, who was a steady source of support, hands-on care, and encouragement to Kathy during the final season of her life.
Funeral home visitation will be on Friday, July 29 from 12:00-5:00 p.m. at Dahl Funeral Chapel; 10 Yellowstone Ave. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 30, at Faith Evangelical Church; 3145 Sweetwater Dr. There will be a viewing at 10:30 and service at 11:00 with reception to follow. By Kathy's request and in her honor, please wear bright colors and sparkly things.
