Sylvia Gone

Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, Sylvia Turns Plenty Gone passed to the other side camp on July 31, 2022, with her family by her side. Sylvia was born on June 6, 1929, to Ralph Sr. and Rose (DeCrane) Turns Plenty. During her childhood she was raised by her grandparents Turns the Enemy Back Plenty and Lucy Hill.

Sylvia married Marvin Stewart, Sr., and later divorced, from this union were seven children: Elsie Faith, Marvella, Marvin Jr. “Cotton”, Grant “Buckshot”, Geralyn Renee, Rosemary & Timo. She later married Frederick Gone and together they had two daughters, Lucy and Bertha.

Sylvia had a strong work ethic and was employed by the St. Charles Mission for over 30 years as the Head Cook, she retired and was well known for her bread and fry bread recipes and her strong coffee, her sisters would try to beat her to the coffee machine to make less strong coffee. She was a devout catholic and her faith in the Lord Creator was unwavering, as a result, she provided spiritual guidance for her family. Sylvia was loved by all and loved her family deeply. Sylvia always made sure anyone who entered her home never left hungry, she was generous, funny, humble, and most of all loving. Her home was always open and she welcomed all who entered. Sylvia spent many mornings listening to Lonnie Bell on KGHL and cooking breakfast for her family.

Sylvia is preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Ralph Jr., David, Chester, Wayne and Vernie Turnsplenty; sisters: Priscine Nez Perce and Charlene Laverdure; Children: Geralyn, Rosemary, Marvin “Cotton” Jr., Buckshot, Marvella, Timo Stewart, and Levi Little Light; Nieces and nephews: Rocky Bull Tail, Joseph Turns Plenty Sr., Rosina Turnsplenty, Terrance and Conrad Turnsplenty; Grandchildren: Lyndon “Indian” Wall, Baby Sammy Stewart.

Sylvia is survived by her children: Elsie Faith Wounded Face, Lucy and Bertha Gone; adopted children: Toni Blueshield, Steve Yapuncich, Tony Davis, Doug Smith; Sylvia had a special place in her heart for all of her grandchildren whom she helped raise and many of whom lived in her home: Geralyn (Joe) Little Light-Gutierrez, Devona Wounded Face, Woody (Quincy) Stewart, Courtney Dawes, Tim Medicine Horse, Taleshia (Josiah) Hugs, Patricia, Alton & Shawn Smart Enemy, Moriah (Lynndell) Maldonado, Jesse (Mariah) & Fred Gone and Sylvia Stewart. Great grandchildren: Tyson, Antone, Joey (Courtney), Kobe (Aaliyah), Kessa, Anessa & Katherine, Cameron (Cheney) & Larissa (Luke), Laney, Simone, Lorenzo & Ellie, Lando, Cece, Sylvie & Evelyn, Avery, Lansing, Abigail & Sonny, Jameus, Amya, Carter, Carmelo, Fred Jr., Cady & M’Leigh, Louis, Jackson & Lotus, Julian, Taiah, Sam, Cashius, Caius, Audrey & Aaliyah. 9 great-great-grandchildren. Brother: Aaron Sr. (Adora) Turnsplenty; sisters: Verna, Louise, Mary & Avalon Turnsplenty; numerous nieces and nephews.

Our family is large, we apologize if we have forgot anyone in our time of grief.
